Matters for the Information of the Council <br /> <br />£4r. Edgar stated that he has forwarded a report entitled "Why should <br />t/~e Pleasanton Business District be Revitalized?" to the City Council. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTOP~EY <br /> <br />Report Re: Cit~-. A. ttorne~s' Conference <br /> <br />Mr. Hirst stated that the above report was for the information of the <br />Council. <br /> <br />Rep.ort R..e..: Pending Damage Suit. s against .the. C..it~ and V.C.S.D. <br /> <br />Mr. Hirst stated that he has examined the allegations in each of the <br />suits and am convinced that the City is not liable. He recommended <br />that t~e be authorized and instructed by resolution to deny liability, <br />defend said lawsuits and to file any pleading and take any action, <br />including cross complaints, demurrers and counterclaims, deemed nec- <br />essary to an effective defense. <br /> <br />After some discussion on this matter, it was moved by Councilman Pears_on <br />and seconded by Councilman Kinney that Resolution Nn. 72-80, authorizing <br />the City Attorney to deny liability, defend said lawsuits and to file <br />any pleading and to take any action, including cross complaints, demurr- <br />ers and counter-claims, deemed necessary to an effective defense, be <br />adopted. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Pearson and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: . None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />COMMUN I CAT I ON S <br /> <br />There were no communications read at this meeting. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> <br />Councilman Kinney requested that the matter concerning the Alameda <br />County Library Tax be placed on next weeks' agenda. <br /> <br />Councilman Pearson reported that the Valley Planning Committee heard a <br />presentation regarding the preparation of a Valley-Wide General Plan. <br /> <br />After some discussion on this matter, it was moved by Councilman Pear- <br />son and .sec.onded by Councilman Herlihy that Resolution. No. 72-84, en- <br />dorsing the Valley Planning Committee's proposal to prepare a scope <br />of study for a Valley-Wide General Plan, be adopted. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Pearson and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br /> <br />Councilman Herlihy asked the Council to consider supporting Proposition <br />Nos. 'r4' and 'N' on the June Primary Ballot.
