Mayor Reid asked the City Attorney if a conflict of interest would <br /> be involved as two members of the Council taught at Chabot College. <br /> Mr. Hirst stated that there was no conflict of interest in this matter. <br /> <br /> It was then moved by Councilman tterlihy and seconded by Councilman <br /> Pearson that Resolution No. 72-83, endorsing Propositions 'M' and 'N' <br /> on the June Primary Ballot, be adopted. <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> <br /> AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Pearson and Mayor Reid <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> C~uncilman Pearson re-initiated the matter of prohibiting smoking <br /> during City Council meetings. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Pearson and seconded by Councilman Mori that <br /> smoking during City Council ~4eetings, be prohibited. <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmen Pearson and Mori <br />NOES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney and Mayor Reid <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Councilman Pearson stated that he felt that prospective appointments <br /> by the Mayors' Conference should be discussed by the City Council. <br /> <br />~,~ayor Reid explained how some appointments were established by statute <br />but he had no objections other than that of perhaps, timing. <br /> <br />It was moved by Councilman Pearson and seconded by Councilman Mori <br />that prospective appointments made by the Mayors' Conference Selection <br />Committee be discussed at City Council level. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> <br />AYES: Councilmen Mori, Pearson and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: Councilmen Herlihy and Kinney <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> <br />Mr. Michael Hemp, 2291 Segundo Court, and owner of a Shell Service <br />Station on Hopyard Road, objected to six service station being approved <br />on Hopyard Road. <br /> <br />Mr. Robert E. Lee, 4938 Drywood, complained again about his poor <br />television transmission. <br /> <br />Mr. Dereck, Manager of Tele-Vue Systems, responded by stating that his <br />company has had 46% less complaints since he has taken over mana~arship <br />of the facility. He further stated that he and the maintneance staff <br />cannot understand why Mr. Lee claims to have such poor service when <br />each time he personally checks it, it is fine. <br /> <br />Mr. Ron McNicoll, 444 St. Mary Street, requested that the City Council <br />endorse the Air War Initiative, endorse the placing of it on the ballot <br />in November and declare the month of June as Air War Initiative month <br />in Pleasanton. <br /> <br />Mrs. }tope Ames, 2539 Willowren Way and Mrs. Paula Bernardi, 2022 Raven <br />Road, both supported Mr. McNicoll's request to the City Council. <br /> <br /> 5. 5-15-72 <br /> <br /> <br />
