A1 Dutchover, City Engineering Department, dated Decem- ber 7, 1970, be approved~ Mr. Gary Patton displayed a dra~ving of the plan which calls for eight Little League baseball diamonds, two Babe Ruth baseball diamonds, two night lighted men's softball diamonds, one regulation Junior football field, one regulation soccer field and a lagoon area. Discussion regarding funding, l~arking, and other details ensued. Mr. Richard Yackley, President of the newly formed Pleasanton Youth Development Sports Corporation, asked that nothing be deleted from this plan, as Pleasanton really needs even more than what is being planned. Mr. Yackley stated that with all the volunteer help from various cont- ractors, this plan can be started x~ithout a great deal of cash. Mayor Reid stated that Mro Yackley's contributions as well as all others, are greatlu appreciated by the Clty and requested that any input from anyone from Youth Sports be presented to the Council or the staff, as this project will have to be done according to City specifications. In answer to Councilman Mori's request for the total cost of this park, Mr. Patton stated that the turfing will cost approximately $4,000 per acre but he would have to bring back a figure on the overall project. Mr. Jay ttarris, representing Pleasanton Little League Baseball and Foot- ball, invited the Council to attend a game and see the total enthusiasm of these boys. Mayor Reid assured the sports leaders that the city is vitally interes- ted in providing for all the youth of the community. It was moved by Councilman Mori and seconded by Councilman Kinney that Resolution No. 72-67, approving the development plan for the 105 acre Youth Sports and Recreation Park, be adopted.
