He ~elt the need for <br />this ~ype of low-moderate income housing was vital to the community, and was <br />supported by members o~ the Presbyterian Church, and urged favorable considera- <br />tion by the Council in regard to ~educed City fees° <br /> <br /> Mr. Bill Amis spoke on behal~ of the need of this type of low-moderate in- <br />come housing, citing a number of applications already had been received to rent <br />in this p~oject~ from all di~'ferent age and social income people. He further <br />sta~ed thai Plessan,~on Gardens had a waiting list, so the need for this type <br />o~ housing was greatly desired. <br /> <br /> Mr~ Am~s presented a petition to the City Council to roll back Pleasanton <br />Greens' fees from $220,000!00 to the June, 1972, level of $104,000.00 (forgive <br />the "bedroom tax", "Park fees", and "sewer surcharge") and make possible these <br />131 <:hu~ch-sponsored homes for our young people, elderly, and economically <br />disadvan~aged~ The petition had 201 signatures attached. <br /> <br /> Mrs~ Ingrid iverson, Worker at the Pleasanton Gardens, spoke regarding the <br />need of housing ~oE the elderly as well as social related activities, and stated <br />~ha~L Pleasantcn Greens would be this kind of project. <br /> <br /> Miss Bonnie ~uller, ~epresenting the Youth of the community, spoke regard- <br />Ing zhe needed social hall with this project as a place that could be utilized <br />by teensgets, as well as others, as a gathering place for various activities. <br />She stated many of her teachers were unable to live in Pleasanton because they <br />could no~ a£~ord the high cost of rent, and she felt this project was impor- <br /> <br /> Mro Jerry Ha~.~ond, oi ~he Lustrat Company, stated the purpose of the Federal <br />236 F~cgram was to fill the growing gap of middle income housing, and in order <br />Lo keep rents dc~m ~he project costs have to be kept at a minimum so that it <br />~!a~ serve the middie-marker sector° He added the amenities could be reduced <br />~,~ e~Limin~ted tc c~t down on costs but the project needs those amenities and <br />~ remove ~:hem would be detrimental or disastrous° <br /> <br /> Mayo~ Reild recessed the meeting at 9:20 P.M. <br /> <br /> Mayor Reid reconvened the meeting at 9:25 P.M. <br /> <br /> 3. 12/18/72 <br /> <br /> <br />
