It was moved by Councilman Herlihy, and seconded by Councilman Kinney, that <br /> the two ordinances regarding truck routes be continued for two weeks. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Pearson, and Mayor Reid <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Adoption of the 1972/73 Tax Rate <br /> Mr. Campbell stated this matter was continued from the meeting of August <br /> 7th. <br /> <br /> Mr. Walker presented the staff report with additional information regarding <br /> tax figures. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilman Mori, and seconded by Council- <br />man Herlihy, that Resolution No. 72-144, establishing the Tax Rate for Fiscal <br />Year 1972-73 st $1.63, as follows: General Fund - $1.00; Park and Recreation - <br />.35; General Obligation Bond Interest and Redemption - .06; Retirement System - <br />.22; and that five (5) cents of the amount shown for Park and Recreation pur- <br />poses be earmarked for improvement together with other funds which may be <br />available as indicated in the 1972-73 Budget for improvement of the Pleasanton <br />Youth Sports Park, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: Councilman Pearson <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Consideration of Expansion of the Traffic Safety Committee to include a <br />Plannin~ Commissioner and a member of the Community Concerns Committee <br /> Mr. Campbell stated this matter had been continued from the meeting of August <br />7th. <br /> <br /> Mr. Campbell reported the Traffic Safety Committee would like to expand by <br />two, to include a member of the Planning Commission and a member of the Community <br />Concernc Committee. This would provide more input and better communications <br />between the staff and Commissions regarding new traffic regulations and infor- <br />mation. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Pearson, and seconded by Councilman Herlihy, <br />that Resolution No. 72-145, authorizing that the Traffic Safety Committee be <br />expanded by two members; one from the Planning Commission and one from the <br />Community Concerns Committee, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Pearson, and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />SPECIAL REPORTS <br />Report of Traffic Committee~ Re: Various Recommendations <br /> Mr. Campbell presented the Traffic Committee report, stating that in addi- <br />tion to the expansion of the Traffic Safety Committee, the following three <br />recommendations should be considered by the Council at a future time: <br /> 1. That the speed limits on Santa Rita-TassaJara be changed to the <br /> following: 45 mph, Valley to Tassajara, and 55 mph, TassaJara <br /> at Santa Rita to Highway 580. <br /> <br /> 2. That the Council request Alameda County to conduct speed studies <br /> on Foothill Road due to repeated complaints that the speed limit <br /> is too high. <br /> <br /> 3. That the Council authorize staff to prepare and present an Ordi- <br /> nance making it legal and recommended that bicycles use sidewalks <br /> in all areas except Main Street and shopping center sidewalks, <br /> subject to the approval of the City Attorney. <br /> <br /> 3. 8/21/72 <br /> <br /> <br />
