REPORTS O~ THE Cir~ MANAGER <br /> ~~r_!l____Re:_~ojplerion of Const~c.~ton on Centur~__House <br /> Mr~ Campbell presented an oEal report regarding this matter, stating that very <br /> little work had been done on Centuzy House due to lack of funds, and he recommended <br /> that this matter be made a Budget ~tem so that the Building might be completed for <br /> immediate user <br /> <br /> Mr= Edgar explained that money was available in the Park Dedication Fund that <br /> could be used to finance the estimated cost of between $15,000~00 to $20,000°00, <br /> required for the restoration of Century HouSeD <br /> <br /> The Council concurred that thls Building should be made available for use as <br /> soon as possible, <br /> <br /> Councilman Mori requested a ~eport irom the Jaycees as to how much assistance <br /> they plan to donate in regard to Century House. <br /> <br /> Mayor Pearson declared th~s matter be considered with the 1973-74 Budget. <br /> <br />~_RJ~uest o~ Clorox ~o~ the use of a hotdin~ tank for sewer service <br /> Mr~ Edgar presented a letter from the C!orex Company requesting approval of a <br />holding rank ~or sewer service on an interim basis~ Mr~ Edgar explained that under <br />V-C~S~D~'s point system, Clotlox was virtually assured of sewer connection to the <br />V.C~S~D~ Plant, however, due ro over-subscription and further Regional Water Qua- <br />lity Central Boa~ld regulations, Clorox has now been advised they cannot be connected <br />to the sewer system at this time~ Mr Edgar recommended that Clorox be granted <br />permission tc ~nstall a holding tank~ <br /> <br /> M~ D. E. School, Manager of Engineering Services for Clorox, presented drawings <br />representing the plot plan of the Plant and showing the proposed holding tank behind <br />the building and parking lot, which is to be underground with manhole covers on top. <br />He explained the temporary access road built for trucks to haul away the effluent <br />which is mostly water, M~. Scheer stated this project would cost approximately <br />$15,000~00, plus $5,000~00 to $6,000~00 per month to operate, which is 137 times <br />what the cost would be to hook up to the V~C.S~D. Sewer Plant. He further stated <br />V.C~S.D~ has not refunded their money already paid for sewer connection~ <br /> <br /> Mr~ Schee~ stated that if it proved necessary, Clorox had long-range plans to <br />design and operate their own sewer! system by possibly recycling and reusing the <br />water. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Reid, and secl~nded by Councilman Herlihy, that Reso- <br />lution No~ 73-~9, app~oving the request of Clorox to install a holding tank for <br />sewer service, be adopted~ <br />The roll call vo~e was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Mayor Pearson apologized to ~he Clo~ox Company for the inconveniences they have <br />suffered in this regard~ <br /> <br /> The Counc~l s~ggested tha~ a meeting be scheduled as soon as possible with <br />V~C~S,D~ fore clarification as to the interpretation of the Agreement that has <br />been established between V~C~S~D~, the City of Pleasanton, and the developers, <br />regarding sewer connections Mayor Pearson requested that the Managers and the <br />Sewer Comm~tee ge~ ~oge[her first [o prepare an agenda and gather the informa- <br />tion necessary f~ a meaningfbl mee~ing~ <br /> <br />~e: Request of Dr.! Howard Lone_for septic tank approval on 50+ Acre Parcel <br />above Foothill Road <br /> M~i Edga~ presented the staff report regarding this matter', stating that from <br />a policy standpc~nt septic tanks a~e not generally allowed, however, from a tech- <br />nical standpoint there is no teason to deny this request~ He stated that the <br />Council needs no se~ some guidelines in this regard~ Mr~ Edgar further stated <br />~hat if approval f~r this septic tank ls g~anted it should be conditioned upon <br />the fact ~hat w'hen sewer service is available, the property must be connected to <br />the sewer system~ <br /> <br /> 5/7/73 <br /> <br /> <br />
