Mayor Reid also requested that the Fair Liaison <br /> Committee deiibe~ate iofther in negotiations regarding the lease of the Soil Con- <br /> servation Buildings a~ the Fairgrounds. <br /> <br /> Matters for the Information of the Council <br /> Mr~ Edgar p~esented the report of the Planning Commission regarding preliminary <br /> drawings of [he Ciny of£ices,. <br /> <br /> Mr. Edgar~ inEormed [he Council of the Mayors' and Councilmen's Legislative Con- <br /> ference in Sacramento on May 14~16, 1973. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE ClI~ ATTORNEY <br /> There were no reports of the City Attorney presented at this meeting. <br /> <br /> COMMUNICATIONS <br /> There were no Communications presented at this meeting~ <br /> <br />CI~ COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Councilman Kinney reported on the meeting of the Alameda County Library Advisory <br />Committee, stating their staff reviewed the pattern of revenue sharing to cities and <br />counties with and without library service and a pattern developed that those cities <br />without library systems were reduced in their municipal revenue sharing formula, He <br />requested that a letter be sent to the Board of Supervisors urging that the Alameda <br />County Library be included in their discussions for their revenue sharing to up- <br />grade the aodio-visual program and also allow libraries to be open on Sunday~ <br /> <br /> Mayor Reid expressed opposition to this request, sUa~ing that he felt cities <br />should not di~a~e to the County on how they should spend their revenue sharing <br />money and perhaps an appropriate course of action would be for those who s~rve on <br />the Advisory Committee to so move for this. <br /> <br /> Councilman Herlihy concurred with Mayor Reid's comments~ <br /> <br /> Councilman Pearson stated he felt the City Council should make its comments <br />known to ~he Board ot Supervisors, as there is going to be lots of requests for <br />revenue sha~ing on all levels, and the library is one of the more useful functions <br />the govermment provides~ <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Kinney, and seconded by Councilman Pearson, that a <br />letter be senu ~o the Board of Supervisors urging that they set aside a part of <br />the general reven~e sharing funds for more and better library services. <br />The roll call. vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, and Pearson <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Nane <br />ABSTAINED~HaFor Reid <br /> <br /> Mayer Reid explained that he was not opposed to the expenditure of revenue <br />sharing for the County library, but that he didn't feel that it was appropriate <br />for a city to be telling the County how to spend its revenue sharing funds. <br /> <br /> 5. 3/26/73 <br /> <br /> <br />
