It was moved by Councilman Kinney, and seconded by Councilman Pearson, that <br />Ordinance No,! 694, approving the application of the Planning Commission of the <br />City of Pleasanton to amend Sec. 2-5~47(f), Article 3, Chapter 2, Title II of the <br />Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton to require screening of vehicles or <br />appurtenances stored in required sideyards and areas between required front yards <br />and the fronts of structures, be introduced. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Pearson, and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Application of the City Council to apply t.h.e appropriate provisions of the Vehicle <br />Code to the private streets in the Pleasanton Park Villas area <br /> Mayor Reid declared the public hearing open. <br /> <br /> Mr. Campbell presented the staff report regarding this matter, stating that the <br />City staff is not yet convinced that theze is a sufficient problem to justify the <br />imposition of the Vehicle Code on these private streets, however, if based upon the <br />testimony at the March 19th public hearing the evidence submitted to the City Council <br />determines that the appropriate provisions of the Vehicle Code should be imposed, it <br />is recommended that the City Council authorize the staff to prepare the appropriate <br />resolutions necessary to impose the appropriate provisions of the Vehicle Code° <br /> <br /> Mr. Jack Bullock, 5296 Golden Road, representing Pleasanton Park Villas Home- <br />owners Association, stated he had received the report of the Director of Public <br />Works, dated March 16, 1973, and that he also had a communication from Doug Cra- <br />craft of the Fire Department, dated September 11, 1972, regarding the hazardous <br />condition for firetrucks to enter this area due to parking of automobiles on pri- <br />vate streets. Mr. Bullock urged the City Council to take whatever steps necessary <br />to allow normal police and fire protection to this area. <br /> <br /> Mr. William L. Abernathy, 1637 Calle Santa Anna, spoke regarding the need of <br />vehicular control for the safety of small children in this area. He added these <br />streets are being used as racetracks for motorcycles and go-carts, and that it <br />also creates a noise factor. He further stated the homes in this area are single- <br />family dwelling units the same as a house and need police and fire protection and <br />control by the City. <br /> <br /> Mr~ Eo T. Nelson, member of the Board of Directors for Laguna Vista Homeowners <br />Association, related an experience regarding a recent fire and the difficulty of <br />getting the firetrucks through the private streets~ He urged the City Council to <br />take whatever action necessary to be sure that the police and fire departments <br />have the right-of-way to use these streets. <br /> <br /> There being no further testimony from the audience, it was moved by Councilman <br />Herlihy, and seconded by Councilman Kinney, that the public hearing be closed. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Pearson, and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Application of the City Council to apply the ajpropriate provisions of the Vehicle <br />Code to the private streets in the Laguna Vista Estates area <br /> Mayor Reid declared the public hearing open on this matter in order that it <br />might be considered with the above item~ <br /> <br /> No one in the audience spoke in favor or in opposition to this item. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Herlihy, and seconded by Councilman Kinney, that the <br />public hearing be closed. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Pearson, and Mayor Reid <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> 3. 3/19/73 <br /> <br /> <br />
