The retail floor area in the neighborhood commercial center 'be limited to 65,000 square feet, and that if any upward change in this limitation is proposed by the developer at the design re- view stage the change must first be reviewed and approved by the City Council. 2. The tentative map containing Purchase Parcel No. 3 be referred to the Planning Commission with the instruction that they should request a new tentative map from the developer setting forth a reduced number of multiple units in the apartment complex in that area of the development. 3. With reference to the neighborhood commercial center, design approval granted by the Planning Commission must be referred to the City Council for consideration and review. Waive readin~ of Ordinance No. 689, approvin~ the application of the Planning Commission to retain in the A District Parcel 1-2~ Block 3295~ Assessor's Map Book 946~ containing 2.58 ac.~ more or less, Edwin Wortham property, and place in the C-F District Parcel 3-8, Block 3295, Assessor's Map Book 946~ containing 6.93 ac.~ more or less~ Mel Mack property, said properties fronting on Santa Rite Road Mayor Reid urged reconsideration of the entire zoning of the properties fronting on Santa Rita Road, stating that the approval of commercial zoning of this area was the biggest mistake the Council ever made because of the departure from the basic philosophy of the General Plan. It was moved by Councilman Mori, and seconded by Councilman Herlihy, to waive the reading of Ordinance No. 689. It was moved by Mayor Reid, and seconded by Councilman Pearson, that a sub- stitute motion be introduced to request the City Attorney to report on the feasibility of conditioning Ordinance No. 689 to limit the number of units within the motel complex.
