The Council concurred that the Milk Barn should be preserved if at all possible,

<br />a further report on the portables.

<br /> Mr. Sooby presented the staff report regarding this matter, stating that bids
<br />were opened at 2:00 P.M. today, the low bidder being Maxdon Construction, Inc~, in
<br />the amount of $16,800.00.

<br /> It was moved by Councilman Reid, and seconded by Councilman Kinney, that Reso-
<br />lution No. 73-159, awarding contract for Walnut Grove Park project to Maxdon Con-
<br />struction, Inc., P. O. Box 134, Alviso, in the amount of $16,800.00, be adopted.

<br />Report~ Re: Review .0.f B.id~ ~a~ Street Realignment
<br />Mr. Sooby presented the staff report regarding this item, stating that after
<br />further review of this matter from last week, the staff felt that although the
<br /> ,
<br />bids were exhorbantly high on this project, rebidding would only result in a delay
<br />of construction without any cost savings, and recommended that the contract be
<br />awarded to the low bidder, McGuire and Hester.

<br /> Councilman Herlthy stated he was not comfortable with the difference between
<br />the Engineer's estimate and the amount of the low bid.
<br />
<br /> Councilman Reid suggested that on some projects maybe it would be profitable
<br />to go to bid on cost plus fixed fee contract.
<br />
<br /> Councilman Mori requested a breakdown of the bids on the report on this kind
<br />of awarding of contract°

<br /> It was moved by Councilman Kinney, and seconded by Councilman Mori, that
<br />Resolution No. 73-160, approving award of contract to McGuire and Heater, Oakland,
<br />in the amount of $79,401.50, for Ray Street Realignment and First Street Traffic
<br />Signal project, be adopted.

<br />Mr. Edgar presented the staff report regarding this matter, stating that the
<br />1973-74 Police Budget authorizes the purchase of one station wagon to replace an
<br />existing unit which serves as the Patrol Sergeant's command vehicle in addition
<br />to transporting police detainees to the County's detention facilities, and
<br />recommended the bid be awarded to Lloyd A. Wise, Inc.
<br />
<br /> It was moved by Councilman Reid, and seconded by Councilman Mori, that Reso-
<br />lution No. 73-161, approving award of bid for one Police Station Wagon, to Lloyd
<br />A. Wise, Inc., 10440 East 14th Street, Oakland, in the amount of $4,570°00, be
<br />adopted.
