Mr.. Edga~ asked if the Council wanted to have a meetLing on July 30th ~o discuss <br />Budget Implementation by Work Programs. The Council determined not tc have a meet- <br />ing on July 30th.. Mayor Pearson appointed Councilmen Herlihy and Mori to mee~ with <br />the staff regarding the Budget. This Committee meeting with staff will occur on <br />Auguser 3, 1973. <br /> <br /> Mr; Edgar stated that a policy needs to be determined regarding City review of <br />applications for land use construction projects at the Alameda County Fairgrounds. <br />He added that~ some applications were presented for review while others were not. <br />The Council requested that this matter be reviewed with the Fai~ Liaison Committee <br />for recommendation regarding a policy position. <br /> <br /> Mr, Edgar stated the City staff is having a problem enforcing the sign ordi- <br />nance in the downtown area. He recommended a study session be held with the Plan- <br />ning Commission and possibly the Chamber of Commerce to study ways to implement a <br />program to include the downtown merchants to help get the program working; A <br />study session with the Planning Commission regarding the Sign Ordinance was <br />scheduled for August 13, 1973, at 7:00 P.M. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CiTY ATTORNEY <br />Denial of Claim by Ben Louis K~ <br /> Mr. Scheidig reported that the City is in receipt of a claim from Ben Louis <br />King, 1758 Hollyhock Street, Livermore, relating to damage to his camper truck <br />which occurred when it hit a limb overhanging Black Avenue. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Mori, and seconded by Councilman Reid, that the <br />claim of Mr~ Ben Louis King be denied and referred to the City Attorney for hand- <br />ling. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Repor~.~. Re: Establishing a Meeting with Legislators durin~ Month of August <br /> Mr. Scheidig stated that the City Council has annually met with its legislators <br />in Sacramento to discuss legislative problems and it would be appropriate for the <br />Council to indicate the dates on which they are available for such a meeting and <br />the items to be included on the agenda. Mr. Scheidig indicated that the week o£ <br />August 20th or August 27th were suggested dates for this meeting and requested the <br />Councilmen to contact him regardingldate andagenda items. <br /> <br />Ordinance and Resolution Relatin~ to Sewer Service Fees <br /> Mr. Scheidig presented his report regarding this matter stating that the City <br />Council at its meeting of July 16, 1973, adopted as an urgency measure Ordinance <br />No~ 701, increasing the sewer service charge from $3,00 to $3.75 in the City. He <br />further added that it was his policy to adopt a regular Ordinance to take effect <br />in the event that if the urgency Ordinance should be attached that there would be <br />a regular Ordinance covering the same matter which is virtually immune to attack. <br /> <br /> !t was moved by Councilman Mori, and seconded by Councilman Kinney, that Ordi- <br />nance No~ ~02, an ordinance amending Section 2-15.03, Article 1, (Sewer Service <br />Charges), Chapter8 (Sewage), Title II (Zoning and Development), of the Ordinance <br />C~de of the City of Pleasanton relating to Sewer Service Charges, be introduced. <br />The ~olI ~ii vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson <br />NOES: Non~ <br />ABSENT: No~ e <br /> <br /> wa~ ~ed by Councilman Reid, and seconded by Councilman Mori, that Resolu- <br />ti{~r~ ~o.~ ?~i26~ amending Resolution No~ 73-112 (a resolution establishing fees <br />and charge~ tot various municipal services of the City of Pleasanton) to include <br />charges ~or sewer service as requiredby Section 2-15.03 of the Ordinance Code <br />of the City of Pleasanton a,d replacing resolution No. Y2-67A (increasing sewer <br />service fees for industrial and commercial pursuant to Section 2-15.03(c), <br />Ar~ic!e !, Chapter 8, Ord!ance Code), be adopted. <br /> <br /> 5. 7/23/73 <br /> <br /> <br />
