It was moved by Councilman Reid and seconded by Councilman Mori <br />that Ordinance No. 715 be introduced to be read by title only and waiving <br />further reading thereof, amending in its entirety Article 3, Chapter 3, <br />Title I of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton relating to <br />Sales and Use Tax, said ordinance to take effect immediately upon intro- <br />duction and adoption as an urgency measure. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: CS~ncil~e'n Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Introduction of Ordinance No. 718, amending in its entirety. Article 3, <br />Chapter 3,~ Title' i of the Ordinance C~d'e o"f'~he City of Pleasanton re- <br />lating to a sales and use tax. <br />' Mr. Scheidig suggested that the Council introduce as a regular ordin- <br />ance an ordinance similar to Ordinance No. 715 except for the urgency <br />provisions. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Reid and seconded by Councilman Mori that <br />Ordinance No. 718 be introduced to be read by title only and waiving <br />further reading thereof amending in its entirety Article 3, Chapter 3, <br />Title I of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton relating to a <br />Sales and Use Tax. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: ~ounc'i'lmen He~lihy, Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />COMMUN ICAT IONS <br />Letter f'ro'~ Footh~ill High School Citizens _Ad__vi__s~ry Committee, Re: <br />Access routes to new school <br /> Mr. Edgar indicated that the staff had no further comments with <br />regard to this letter. <br /> <br /> Mr. Jim Bowe, 6595 Paseo Santa Cruz, addressed the Council and <br />expressed concern for the students of Foothill High School who have <br />to traverse Foothill Road to attend school. He stated two alterna- <br />tives to aid in solving this problem. (1) Las Positas Overpass, and <br />(2) bicycle paths on Foothill Road. He asked the Council how the <br />citizens can help alleviate the problem and establish these necessary <br />changes. <br /> <br /> The Council expressed concern about the situation and Councilman <br />Herlihy suggested that a staff member review the history of the <br />situation with Mr. Bowe. <br /> <br /> Mr. Edgar stated that there is no funding for the overpass at pre- <br />sent and that there are complete plan line plans for the widening of <br />Foothill Road which have been reviewed by the County and the City staff <br />and will be reviewed by the Planning Commission shortly. <br /> <br /> Councilman Mori concurred that the history of this overpass is <br />inter-related with the problems the City is facing. <br /> <br /> Mayor Pearson suggested that this request would best be made at <br />budget time. <br /> <br /> Councilman Reid assured Mr. Bowe that the City is giving this matter <br />the importance it deserves and suggested that he talk to the staff to <br />satisfy himself of its level of priority. <br /> <br /> Nancy Eby, 27 Castlewood Road, addressed the City Council on this <br />subject and requested priority for a bicycle path on Foothill Road. <br /> <br /> -6- 11/19/73 <br /> <br /> <br />
