He outlined the advantages of a pre-school center at the pro- <br />posed location and urged approval of the appeal for this needed facility, He pre- <br />sented a petition signed by 119 Pleasanton residents in favor of a pre-school <br />center at 443 St. Mary Street, which read as follows: "We Support the development <br />of quality education and child care for our pre-school age children, such as the <br />project proposed for location at 443 St. Mary Street. We are confident this will <br />be a great contribution to our community. We are favorable toward its proposed <br />location. we do not believe the slight increase in traffic, spread over an ll- <br />hour period will cause any significant burden to the present flow of traffic on <br />St. Mary Street. The proposed pre-school/day nursery site has already success~ <br />fully complied with the stringent requirements of state and local agencies as <br />well as having been recommended for approval by the Pleasanton City Planning <br />Commission staff. We are deeply interested in the project, favor the program, <br />and recommend without any reservation that the City Council consider favorably <br />the appeal of Valley Christian Center and those citizens of our community whose <br />signatures a~e herewith affixed regarding the 443 St. Mary Street site for the <br />proposed pre-school center." <br /> <br /> The following persons spoke in favor of the proposed pre-school nursery: <br /> <br /> Leslie Eo Bennett, 443 St~ Mary Street <br /> Pat Clements, 3319 Harpers Ferry Court <br /> Jan Kensill, Oak Hill Section <br /> Trudy Warnow, 4118 Walnut Drive <br /> Gall Luke, Camino Brazos <br /> Ronald Spence, 478 St. Mary Street <br /> Marlens Stern, 4205 Cabernst Court <br /> <br /> The following persons spoke in opposition to the location of the proposed pr~- <br />school nursery: <br /> <br /> Thomas Nerton, 462 St. Mary Street <br /> Peter Mohr, 431 St. Mary Street (presented a letter dated May 13, 1974, <br /> to the City Council) <br /> Mrs~ Co L.
