After discussion, it was moved by Councilman Herlthy, and seconded by Councilman <br /> Kinney, authorizing staff to establish two-way left turn lanes on First Street as <br /> shown in the report of the Director of Engineering Services, dated January 22, 1974. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, and Mori <br />NOES: Councilman Reid and Mayor Pearson <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br />Report of the Planning Commission~ Re:..~sse.m. bly Bill 2340 <br /> Mr. Edgar presented the staff report regarding AB 2340, which would require <br /> that all airports have their own full-time, paid fire department, and the financ- <br /> ing of this act. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Reid, and seconded by Councilman Mori, that Resolu- <br />tion No. 74-15, stating that the City Council of the City of Pleasanton is in <br />opposition to AB 2340, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br />R_~port, Re: Amending Master Plan for Amador Valley Community Park <br /> Mro Dutchover presented the staff report regarding this matter and displayed a <br />map showing several changes to the Master General Plan of Amador Valley Community <br />Park. The revision consists of the construction of two buildings to house the <br />interim youth center and a cultural arts building. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Mori, and seconded by Councilman Kinney, that Reso- <br />lution No. 74-16, approving an amendment to the Master General Plan for Amador <br />Valley Community Park, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Councilman Reid stated that the program for this park should be coordinated <br />with the other parks in town. <br /> <br />R~port.~. Re: Land.scape and Planning Program in Street Medians <br /> Mr. Campbell presented the staff report regarding this matter, stating that the <br />current landscape design standard for street medians and back-up areas is one that <br />will require very little maintenance but will be aesthetically pleasing, but that <br />due to no subdivision activity, the only area where this concept may be seen is on <br />West Las Positas Boulevard in Pleasanton Meadows medians. This item is informational <br />only and, therefore, no action is required. <br /> <br />Report~ Re: Improve Traffic Circulation at Hopyard .ROad ~nd V~lley Avenue pending <br />completion of street project <br /> Mr. Sooby stated this matter was brought up at last week's meeting. He further <br />stated he had reviewed this situation with the contractor and that more delineators <br />would be established, additional barricades installed, and a sign pointing to the <br />Valley Avenue turn-off would be added, in order to alleviate the traffic hazard at <br />Hopyard Road and Valley Avenue pending completion of the street project. <br /> <br />Report~ Re: D~t~iled. Tree Replacement Program on Hopyard Road and Valley Avenue <br /> Mr~ Campbell presented the staff report regarding this matter which was requested <br />Mr. Councilman Reid last week. He stated that during the months of October and Novem- <br />ber, 1973, thirty-five dead or dying street trees were removed from Valley Avenue and <br />Hopyard Road. This is in addition to trees previously removed last spring. He fur- <br />ther stated that two replacement tulip trees on the west side of Hopyard Road imme- <br />diately north of Black Avenue had been planted this week, and that all replacement <br />trees promised by the nursery have been furnished. He stated there are still some <br />trees to be planted on the west side of Hopyard Road and north of Valley Avenue <br />upon completion of the street widening project.
