It was moved by Councilman Reid, and seconded by Councilman Herlihy, that the <br /> public hearing be closed. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Reid, and seconded by Councilman Kinney, that <br /> Resolution Noo 74-8, approving the application of the First National Bank for <br /> removal of a tree at 749 Main Street, subject to the conditions contained in <br /> the staff report, be adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Application of Pleasanton Garbage Service~ Inc.~ for a rate increase <br /> Mr. Edgar stated that reports and the presentation of the Pleasanton Garbage <br /> Service should be considered in order to determine if a rate increase is Justified. <br /> <br /> Mr. Miller presented the staff report summarizing in general terms the reasons <br />necessitating an increase in garbage rates and the rate increase proposal for <br />residential and commercial. He stated that additional revenue expense data will <br />have to be reviewed before a specific rate increase may be considered for adoption. <br /> <br /> Mayor Pearson declared the public hearing open. <br /> <br /> Joe Schwab, Attorney representing Pleasanton Garbage Service, requested a con- <br />tinuance of this item in order that more detailed information could be presented <br />regarding rate projections and guidelines. He displayed a drawing showing the <br />proposed transfer station and general outline of the operation. Mr. Schwab stated <br />his firm desired full support of the City Council before submitting their applica- <br />tion to the County. <br /> <br /> Hugh A. Walker, Attorney for Gale and Amaral, representing John Petronave, <br />requested a continuance of this item in order that additional information could <br />be presented. <br /> <br /> Frank Brandes, 6889 Corte Sonada, ask if the financial reports of the Pleasanton <br />Garbage Service were verified by audit as well as by a C.P.A. Mr. Edgar stated the <br />financial statements are prepared by a C.P.A., and no other audit was required. <br /> <br /> Mayor Pearson declared the public hearing continued open to the meeting of <br />January 28, 1974, at 8:00 P.M. <br /> <br />MATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION <br /> There were no matters continued for decision at this meeting. <br /> <br />SPECIAL REPORTS <br />Report of the Cit~ M~nager~ Re: Replacement of Director of Communit~ Development <br /> Mr. Edgar stated this matter had been discussed earlier tonight in a study <br />session with the Housing Authority at which time the staff report was presented <br />recommending consolidation of the Pleasanton Housing Authority staff with the <br />City of Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> Mayor Pearson stated he was not satisfied with the engineering function of the <br />City and was opposed to consolidation of the Housing Authority staff with the City. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilman Reid, and seconded by Councilman Mori, that Reso- <br />lution No. 74-9, authorizing the appropriate City officials to proceed with a <br />contr'actual arrangement between the City of Pleasanton and the Pleasanton Housing <br />Authority for staff consolidation as outlined in the report of the City Manager, <br />dated January 11, 1974, for a one year trial period after which the concept will <br />be reviewed, evaluated and final action be taken, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, and Reid <br />NOES: Mayor Pearson <br />ABSENT: None <br /> 2. 1/14/74 <br /> <br /> <br />
