<br /> CALL TO ORDER - PLEDGE TO THE FLAG
<br /> Mayor Robert Pearson called the Regular Meeting of the City Council to order at
<br /> 8:00 P.Mo, and then led the Pledge of Allegiance to the flag.
<br />
<br /> ROLL CALL
<br /> Deputy City Clerk Doris George called the roll which is recorded as follows:
<br /> Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson were present. Mr. Edgar,
<br /> City Manager, Mr. Scheidig, City Attorney, Mr. Campbell, Assistant City Manager/
<br /> Director of Public Works, Mr. Sooby, Director of Engineering Services, and Mr.
<br /> Miller, Assistant to the City Manager, were present.
<br />
<br /> AGENDAAMENDMENTS
<br /> Mr. Edgar requested that an item be added under 10d - Authorization to execute
<br /> Agreement between City and Frank Auf der Maur and Konrad Ric~enbach.
<br />
<br /> Mayor Pearson requested that an item be added under 4e - Proclamation, Re:
<br /> World Religion Day on January 20, 1974.
<br />
<br /> CONSENT CALENDAR
<br /> It was moved by Councilman Herlihy, and seconded by Councilman Kinney, that the
<br /> following items listed on the Consent Calendar, be approved as amended:
<br />
<br /> a. Approval of City Council Minutes for January 7, 1974.
<br />
<br /> b. Adoption of Resolution No. 74-6, approving Claims for the month of December,
<br />-- 1973, in the amount of $264,158.22.
<br />
<br /> c. Adoption of Resolution No. 74-7, approval of Progress Payment No, 1, to
<br /> Williams Brothers, for Santa Rita Road and Western Pacific crossing and street
<br /> improvements, in the amount of $18,930.31,
<br />
<br /> d. Proclaim the Week of January 20, 1974, as JUNIOR WEEK, as requested by the
<br /> Pleasanton Junior Womens Club.
<br />
<br /> eo Proclaim January 20, 1974, as WORLD RELIGION DAY in Pleasanton, as requested
<br /> by BAHA'I Community of Pleasanton.
<br />
<br /> The roll call vote was as follows:
<br /> AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, Reid, and Mayor Pearson
<br /> NOES: None
<br /> ABSENT: None

<br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS
<br /> Application of the First National Bank for removal of tree at 749 Main Street
<br /> Mr. Edgar stated this matter had been continued from the meeting of November 5,
<br /> 1973, at the request of the applicant.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Sooby presented the staff report, stating that a 15-inch diameter Locust
<br /> Tree near the front of the existing bank building was endangering the foundation
<br /> of the building and recommended approval of removal of the tree.
<br />
<br /> Mayor Pearson declared the public hearing open.
<br />
<br /> Mr. Warren Harding, President of the First National Bank, stated the tree
<br /> should be removed immediately and will be replaced with a new street tree at his
<br /> expense.
<br />
<br /> No one in the audience spoke in favor or in opposition to this application.
