Councilman Kinney stated he was optimistic with the projections of the Recrea-
tion Department with regard to the aquatic program, however, in light of the energy
crisis, a realistic approach must be determined as to whether or not to provide a
year-round swim program.

Councilman Mori stated he felt a Winter Program was not feasible for the City,
and if the Swim Club desired to use the pool they should pay all expenses.

Councilman Herlihy stated that choosing to cover the pool for year-round use
should be a recommendation of the Park and Recreation Commission, and that he
personally felt that natural resources could be put to better use than heating
pools.

Mayor Pearson stated the energy shortages are Just that, and that the City
Council should address itself to the overall program of energy conservation.

It was moved by Councilman Reid, and seconded by Councilman Herlihy, to table
this matter because of insufficient information.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmen Herlihy and Reid
NOES: Councilmen Kinney, Mori, and Mayor Pearson

Mrs Ann LaRue, Treasurer of the Pleasanton Swim Club requested use of the
Amador Aquatic Pool until such time as they could use the High School pool which
would be approximately a month from now, and offered to pay all expenses of
hea~ing the aquatic pool.

It was moved by Councilman Kinney, and seconded by Councilman Mori, to allow
the Pleasanton Swim Club to use the Amador Aquatic Pool until the High School
pool is available, paying all expenses incurred to heat the pool, and referring
theimatter of a year-round aquatic program to the Park and Recreation Commission
for study and recommendation, considering the overall energy needs.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmen Herlihy, Kinney, Mori, and Mayor Pearson
NOES: Councilman Reid
ABSENT: None

REPCRTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
Report of the Planning Commission~ Re: Livermore Airport
Mr~ Harris presented the staff report regarding this matter, stating that a
letter from Commissioner McLain dated December 10, 1973, was presented to the
Chairman and members of the Planning Commission at their regular meeting of
December 12, 1973.
