~tatus Report - Sewage Treatment
I, Sunol Plant Renovations
Mr. Edgar presented the staff report, dated September 16, 1974, regarding this
~stter, setting forth the background information.

Mr. Campbell reported on the operation and maintenance of the Sunol Plant,
stating that for sometime the City had not expended any more money on the Plant
~nan necessary due to expected phase out, however, since phase out would not
~!~cur for another 2-4 years it will be necessary to expend more money and use
~c~e personnel time to keep the Plant in operation.

Mr. Robert Kennedy, representing Kennedy Engineers, stated that improvements
r?~ade on the Sunol Plant fifteen years ago were done for a duration of five to ten
<~e~rs in anticipation of phase out. Since conditions surrounding the Plant have
~nged, repairs and renovation are being done on a step-by-step basis in an
~[~empt to continue the operation of the Plant and to comply with adopted stand-
~rds of ~he Regional Water Quality Control Board, at a minimum cost.

Councilwoman LeClaire expressed concern regarding excessive cost of consul-
ant fees, and the City's responsibility to provide adequate service for resi-
~nts who live here.

Councilman Herlihy stated he was opposed to spending any more money on the
?~nol Plant. He added that if additional funds are to be expended the tax payers
~hould [mve something to say about it, and he requested this matter be placed o~
~he Ballot.
