Appeal of a decision of the Design Review Board to deny a signing. program <br />proposed by Blaze Custom Signs for the Davey Ace Hardware Store to be <br />located at 1807 Santa Rita Road (Continued Open from 2-14-77 and 2-28-77) <br /> Mayor Philcox declared this item dismissed from the agenda due to prior <br />resolution of the matter. <br /> <br />Application of the Plannin5 Commission to fezone approximatel7 104 acres of <br />land located west of Foothill Road near its intersection with Bernal Avenue <br />from the R-1-40~O00 to the HPD (Hillside Planned Development) District' <br />(Continued Open from 12-13-76~ 1-3-77,. and 2-14-77) <br /> Mr. Harris presented his report dated December 8, 1976, regarding this <br />matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Philcox declared Open the continued public hearing from the meetings <br />of D.ecember 13, 1976, January 3, 1977, and February 14, 1977. <br /> <br /> No one in the audience spoke in favor of this item. <br /> <br /> Mr. Richard Braden, MacKay and Somps, representing one of the four owners <br />of the property in question, spoke in opposition to this matter, stating the <br />HPD zoning was not appropriate for the upper 50 acres of the Longview property <br />amd requested that this particular parcel remain R-I-40,000 zoning, and cited <br />reasons for this request. <br /> <br /> There being no further public testimony, Mayor Philcox declared the public <br />hearing closed. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes stated he was in favor of the Hillside Planned <br />Development but felt the developer of the 50 acre'parcel of property should <br />be allowed the opportunity of resolving problems under the current zoning. <br /> <br /> The majority of Council believed the zoning to be appropriate since the <br />Ordinance was designed for hillsides such as those under consideration and <br />theproperty is unique. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Herlihy, and seconded by <br />Councilmember LeClaire, that Ordinance No. 815, to be read by title only and <br />waiving further reading thereof, to fezone approximately 104 acres of land <br />located west of Foothill Road near its intersection with Bernal Avenue from <br />the R-1-40,000 to the HPD (Hillside Planned Development) District, and amend- <br />ing the Zoning }~p of the City of Pleasanton accordingly, be introduced. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Herlihy, LeClaire, Mercer, and Mayor Philcox <br />NOES: Councilmember Brandes <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />MATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION <br /> There were no matters continued for decision presented at this meeting. <br /> <br />SPECIAL REPORTS <br /> There were no Special Reports presented at this meeting. <br /> <br /> 3. 3/14/77 <br /> <br /> <br />
