There being no further public testimony, Mayor Philcox declared the public i
hearing closed.

,Mayor Philcox and Councilmembers Brandes and LeClaire felt that traffic was not
the only problem requiring rezoning of this area, this is one of the highest density
areas and the General Plan doesnt dictate that this area should continue with high
density zoning. Problems which have occurred due to past actions should not be per-
petuated, rather action should be taken by rezoning to begin to correct existing pro-
blems. Councilmembers Herlihy and Mercer felt that the lack of sewage capacity will
prevent the area from developing rapidly and that West Las Positas is the answer to
the traffic problems.

After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember LeClaire, and seconded by Council-
member Brandes, that Ordinance No. 806, to be read by title only and waiving further
reading thereof, rezoning those properties located north of Vineyard Avenue, south of
the A~royo del Valle from First Street east to the City Limit Line (except for the
Baptist Church property on First Street) from the RM-1500 District and RM-2500 Dis-
trict to the RM-4000 District, and two parcels located on the south side of Vineyard
Avenue between Adams Way and Mavis Drive from the RM-2500 District to the R-1-6500
District, with the exception of 48 units on Vineyard Avenue owned by Frank Auf der
Maur and previously exempted from this rezoning by City Council, and amending the
Zoning Map of'the City of Pleasanton accordingly, be introduced. ~
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, LeClaire, and Mayor Philcox
NOES: Councilmembers Herlihy and Mercer
ABSENT: None

Mayor Philcox recessed the meeting at 9:40 P.M.

}~yor Philcox reconvened the meeting at 9:50 P.M.

5~TTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION
Adoption of Ordinance No. 802.~ rezoning ap.approximate 8,450 sq. ft.
