PUBLIC HEARINGS (Contd.) <br />Appeal by the City Council of a decision made by the Desi5p Review Board in <br />~ranting application by Pleasanton Skate World for desiSn review approval for <br />a sign to identify Skate World at 7082 Johnson Industrial Drive <br /> Mr. Harris presented his report dated October 5, 1977, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes stated he requested the appeal on this item because he <br />felt signing in the subject area should be more uniform, and he felt the sign for <br />Skate World was inappropriate. He stated he was also concerned about additional <br />development signs. <br /> <br /> Mayor Philcox declared the public hearing open. <br /> <br /> Mr. Jack Singer, representing Skate World, stated that all conditions of the <br />Design Review Board had been complied with regarding the sign. <br /> <br /> There being no further public testimony, Mayor Philcox declared the public <br />hearing closed. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes to deny the Zoning Permit for sign <br />identifying Skate World. <br /> <br /> The motion died for lack of a second. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember LeClaire, and seconded by Councilmember Mercer, <br />that Resolution No. 77-273, denying the appeal by the City Council of a decision <br />made by the Design Review Board in granting application by Pleasanton Skate World <br />for design review approval for a sign to identify Skate World at 7082 Johnson <br />Industrial Drive, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Herlihy, LeClaire, Mercer, and Mayor Philcox <br />NOES: Councilmember Brandes <br />ABSENT:' None <br /> <br /> Councilmember LeClaire stated she felt the Planning Commission should review <br />the Sign Ordinance to determine appropriate and uniform signs for the area bounded <br />by Johnson Industrial Drive. <br /> <br />SPECIAL REPORTS <br /> There were no Special Reports presented at this meeting. <br /> <br />RZPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br />Naming of Park Site (Center Park-T) HeritaSe Valley Area~ Morrison Homes <br /> Mr. Sooby presented the report of the Director of Recreation and Human Re- <br />sources dated September 6, 1977, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Dagmar Fulton, 4536 Mirador Drive, stated she was opposed to the names <br />suggested for this park site, and requested Council to consider naming the park <br />in memory of her father and brother, Thomas and Edwin Orloff. She presented <br />background information on her father and brother and their civic contributions <br />to the City, Valley, and State. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Herlihy, and seconded by <br />Councilmember Mercer, that Resolution No. 77-273, naming the Park in Heritage Valley <br />(Morrison Homes), Orloff Park in memory of Thomas and Edwin Orloff, be adopted. <br /> <br /> 6. 10/11/77 <br /> <br /> <br />
