Further Discussion~ Re: Historical Landmark Overlay District Advisory Committee <br /> Mr. Brown stated this item had been continued from the meeting of September <br />13, 1977, and that it was now in order to determine whether or not to establish <br />a Historical Landmark Overlay District Advisory Committee as required by the <br />City's Ordinance Code, and explained in a memorandum from the City Attorney, <br />dated August 22, 1977. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by <br />Councilmember Herlihy, to advertise for members to serve on the Historical <br />Landmark Overlay District Advisory Committee, the deadline for receiving <br />resumes to be October 14, 1977, and selection of members to serve on the <br />Committee to be made by Council at their meeting of October 25, 1977, after <br />review of the written resumes. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Herlihy, LeClaire, Mercer, and Mayor Philcox <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> After further discussion, it was moved by Councilmember LeClaire, and <br />seconded by Mayor Philcox, that Resolution No. 77-255, establishing the City <br />Council as the Interim Landmark Overlay District Advisory Committee, effective <br />this date, to serve until such time as members are appointed to the Historical <br />Landmark Overlay District Advisory Committee, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Herlihy, LeClaire, and Mayor Philcox <br />NOES: Councilmember Mercer <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> The City Council then discussed projects which should be included within <br />the Historical Overlay District. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember LeClaire, and seconded by Mayor Philcox, <br />that Resolution No. 77-256, determining that the Southern Pacific Railroad <br />Station be designated as a Historical Landmark, be adopted. <br /> <br /> Mr. Scheidig reviewed the criteria for determining historical landmarks <br />as set forth in the Ordinance. The City Council gave further consideration to <br />projects which would fit that criteria, in addition to the Southern Pacific <br />Railroad Station which was found to be within the scope of the Ordinance. <br /> <br /> After discussion, Councilmember LeClaire amended her motion to include, <br />in addition to the Southern Pacific Railroad Station, all previous buildings <br />designated as historical landmarks by the Heritage Subcommittee of the Bicen- <br />tenntal Committee, on the grounds that those structures met the necessary <br />criteria established by the Historic Overlay District Ordinance, Section <br />2-19.16.1; and }~yor Philcox amended his second accordingly. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Herlihy, LeClaire, Mercer, and ~yor Philcox <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />The roll call vote on the original motion was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Herlihy, LeClaire, Mercer, and Mayor Philcox <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> 7. 9/20/77 <br /> <br /> <br />
