SPECIAL REPORTS <br /> There were no Special Reports presented at this meeting. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS <br />Report~ Re:. Actiop .Taken by the Planning Commission on Items at their meeting <br />of 1-11-78 <br /> Mr. Harris presented his report dated January 17, 1978, regarding this matter <br />for the information of the Council. Council took no action on this item. <br /> <br />REPORTS OF THE CITY MANAGER <br />Report~ Re: Valley/Santa Rita and Valley/Greenwood Intersections <br /> Mr. Campbell presented the report of the Traffic Engineer dated January 18, <br />1978, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mercer expressed many concerns regarding the traffic problems <br />in this area and with the proposed solutions presented in the staff report. <br /> <br /> Mayor Philcox stated he felt there was a serious traffic circulation problem <br />in this area. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes stated he felt that no further changes should be made <br />at this time, and that the present situation should be evaluated after an <br />observation period. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Mercer,to do nothing further <br />regarding improvements in progress or spend any more money on the Valley/Santa <br />Rita Road Intersection for a period of three months and evaluate the situation <br />at that time; and that staff provide a report regarding number of accidents that <br />have occurred, a traffic count at the intersection of Valley and Greenwood of <br />traffic on weekends and on weekdays from 5:00 P.M. to 6:30 P.M.; and a way to <br />slow traffic down on Valley Avenue. <br /> <br /> Council and staff discussion ensued regarding the ramifications of ceasing <br />improvement work at this point and the possible cost involved. <br /> <br /> After further discussion, Councilmember Mercer withdrew his motion. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember LeClaire, <br />that the matter of Valley/Santa Rita and Valley/Greenwood Intersections be con- <br />tinued to the meeting of January 30, 1978, and instructed staff to report on the <br />ramifications of stopping the changeover for improvements at Valley and Santa <br />Rita Intersection. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, LeClaire, Mercer, and Mayor Philcox <br />NOES: Councilmember Herlihy <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Interim Report on Street LiShtin~ <br /> Mr. Campbell presented his report dated January 9, 1978, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by <br />Councilmember Mercer, that Resolution No. 78-25, rescinding Resolution No. 77-260, <br />and approving the following guidelines in connection to street lights: (1) The <br /> <br /> 7. 1/24/78 <br /> <br /> <br />
