CITY COUNCIL CO~.{ITTEE REPORTS <br /> Councilmembers presented various Committee Reports for the information of the <br />Council. <br /> <br />MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> Mr. Howard Neely, 448 Amador Court, read a letter addressed to the City <br />Council dated December 15, 1978, signed by Ed Alves, Mel Jennings, Howard W. <br />Neely and Kathleen E. Neely, requesting that the Council place the following <br />measure on the ballot of the next general election: <br /> <br /> "1, Shall the electors elect a Mayor and four (4) city <br /> council members Yes or No <br /> 2. Shall the term of office of such Mayor be two (2) <br /> years? OR Yes or No <br /> 3. Shall the term of office of such ~-~yor be four (4) <br /> Years? Yes or No" <br /> <br /> Council took no action on this request. <br /> <br /> Mr. Robert PearsOn, 3590 Churchill Drive, asked if Council action earlier <br />in the meeting to review the septic tank policy in the Mohr-Martin area would <br />have any affect on a Variance approved by the Planning Commission for possible <br />development in this area. Staff indicated that the Variance would not be affected <br />but the subsequent subdivision and septic tank applications could be. <br /> <br /> Mr. William Kovac, 3124 Weymouth Court, requested the City to checkinto the <br />possibility of requiring the County to place some signs at the Tassajara Exit <br />at Santa Rita Road to better clarify the right of way. Staff was instructed to <br />check into this matter. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HFARINGS <br />Application of the Planning Commission to amend Chapter .2~. Title II of the Ordi- <br />nance Code of the City of Pleasanton b~. ~ddin~ Article 34~ Sc.eni.~ Highway Overl~X <br />District. The district would provide regulations intended to protect the scenic <br />~ualities of roadway.s <br />(Continued Open from 10-24-78 and 11-21-78) <br /> Mr. Harris presented his report dated November 21, 1978, regarding this matter, <br />and stated that the proposed ordinance covered very general guidelines only and did <br />not relate to specific corridors or properties. <br /> <br /> Considerable Council discussion ensued as to whether or not the ordinance was <br />actually needed ~n Pleasanton. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing open. <br /> <br /> No one in the audience spoke in favor of or in opposition to this item. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing closed. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Councilmember Brandes, <br />that the City find that the objectives of the Scenic Highway Element of th~ <br />General Plan are being met or could be met with existing City ordinances and <br />that staff prepare an appropriate resolution for review and adoption regarding <br />this matter. <br /> <br /> 4. 12/19/78 <br /> <br /> <br />
