285 <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes stated he felt City Council should support Proposition <br />1 - Veterans Bond Act of 1978. After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember <br />Brandes, and seconded by Mayor Mercer, that the City Council take a position in <br />support of Proposition 1 - Veterans Bond Act of 1978. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Brandes, Butler, Kephart, Wood, and Hayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Human Services Commissioner Appointments <br /> Councilmember Brandes stated that Human Services Commission applicants had <br />been interviewed earlier tonight and that it was now in order to make appoint- <br />ments if the Council so desired. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by ~tayor Mercer, that <br />Resolution No. 78-272, appointing the following persons to the Human Services <br />Commission: <br /> <br /> Gerald V. Case <br /> Janet M. Kramer <br /> Marcelline Mahern <br /> <br />to fill the unexpired terms of Darrel Maxson, Diana Leathers, and Barbara Hempill, <br />said terms to be determined at the next meeting of the Human Services Commission, <br />be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Brandes, Butler, Kephart, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL CO~vLMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Councilmembers presented various Committee Reports for the information of the <br />Council. <br /> <br />MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> No one in the audience addressed the Chair. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />Adp.ption of Ordinance No..8.68~. Adopting_the 1976 Edition of the Uniform Fire Code <br /> Mr. Levine reviewed the report of the Fire M2rshal dated October 5, 1978, <br />regarding this matter, and stated that Ordinance No. 868, adopting the 1976 Uni- <br />form Fire Code had been introduced on October 10, 1978, and public hearing set <br />for this date to receive any public comments. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing open. <br /> <br /> No one in the audience spoke in favor of or in opposition to this item. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing closed. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Kephart, and seconded by Councilmember Wood, <br />that Ordinance No. 868, to be read by title only and waiving further reading <br />thereof, amending Chapter 1 (Fire Regulations), Title IV (Health, Safety, Moral <br />and General Welfare) by adopting the 1976 Uniform Fire Code by reference and <br />making certain editions and modifications in the Fire Code, be adopted. <br /> <br /> 4. 10/24/78 <br /> <br /> <br />
