The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Brandes, Butler, Kephart, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Councilmember Wood abstained from voting on approval of the City Council <br /> Minutes of August 29, 1978, due to his absence from that meeting. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Kephart abstained from voting. on approval of the City Council <br /> Minutes of August 29, 1978, and September 5, 1978, due to his absence from these <br /> meetings. <br /> <br /> MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br /> Councilmember Kephart stated that at the Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards <br /> Dinner, the Chamber presented the City with a picture of General Alfred Pleasonton, <br /> whom the City was named after, to be hung in City Hall. Councilmember Kephart <br /> stated he had accepted the picture on behalf of the City. Council expressed <br /> appreciation for the picture and instructed the City Manager to write a letter <br /> of tb~nks to the Chamber of Commerce. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Brandes read a Commendation from the City Eouncil to the late <br /> Ted Myers, developer, to be presented to the family of Ted ~ers. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Wood requested staff to investigate the possibility of changing <br /> the "Yie!d'~ sign at Crestline and Northway Roads to a "Full Stop" sign. <br /> <br />-- Mayor Mercer requested permission from the Council to write a letter to Zone <br /> 7 regarding their action taken recently relating to their possible involvement <br /> in the area of private sewage treatment. Mayor Mercer stated he felt this matter <br /> should remain at the discretion of the City. Council concurred that a letter <br /> should be transmitted to Zone 7, stating Council's position on this matter. <br /> <br /> l-~7or Mercer stated this was Tri-Valley Herald Report Ray Tessler's last <br /> night ~ cover City Council meetings as he was being transferred to a larger <br /> assigp~ent. Council commended Mr. Tessler for his fine reporting and wished <br /> him success in his new position. <br /> <br /> CITY COLDICIL COmmITTEE REPORTS <br /> Councilmembers presented various Committee Reports for the information of the <br /> Counc~.. <br /> <br /> MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> David Melander, 7988 Limewood Court, representing Murray School District, <br /> requested the City to finance crossing guards at Donlon and Lydiksen Schools, <br /> as was also requested in a communication from the Murray School District Board <br /> of Trustees dated October 2, 1978. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Mayor Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember <br /> Brandes, that Kesolution No. 78-250, authorizing the hiring of crossing guards as <br /> needed at Donlon and Lydiksen Schools in Murray School District, amending the <br /> budget to a maximum of $5,000.00, placing a one year time limit on this commit- <br /> ment, and to re-evaluate the crossing guard situation with the School Districts <br /> in advance of the school term next year, be adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Brandes, Butler, Kephart, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> 2. 10/3/78 <br /> <br /> <br />
