REPORTS OF THE CITY ATTORNEY <br />~po~.~, Re: Gravel Truck Traffic <br /> Mr. Brown presented background information regarding this matter, stating that <br />Council committee members had met with residents of Mission Park and Rose Pointe <br />and the gravel producers at four meetings to discuss this matter. <br /> <br /> Mr. Levine presented his report dated April 5, 1979, regarding this matter, <br />stating that before the Council can consider the citizens' request relating to <br />gravel truck traffic on First Street/Sunol Road, 60-day notice as required by the <br />Vehicle Code and Government Code should first be provided. <br /> <br /> Mayor Brandes stated with that in mind it would be more appropriate for any- <br />one wanting to speak on this issue to do so at the public hearing, however, he <br />would allow anyone to speak at this time if they so desired. <br /> <br /> Mrs. Karen Mohr, President of the Mission Park Homeowners Association and <br />Chairman of the Citizens Group on Gravel Truck Traffic, stated they felt that <br />gravel truck traffic does not belong in town and should be rerouted. She re- <br />quested that the problem be addressed and alleviated as soon as possible because <br />of traffic and pedestrian safety as well as the noise impact. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by <br />Councilmember Wood, that the City Council set a public hearing relating to truck <br />weight limitations on First Street/Sunol Road on June 12, 1979, 8:00 P.M., Fair- <br />grounds Cafeteria, as required by the Vehicle Code and Government Code. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Kephart, Mercer, Wood, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Butler <br /> <br /> Mayor Brandes recessed the meeting at 8:55 P.M. <br /> <br /> ~yor Brandes reconvened the meeting at 9:05 P.M. <br /> <br />MATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION <br />A_do~tion of Ordinance No. 878 amendin~ Section 2-7.08(a) of Article 8~ Chapter 2~ <br />Title II of the Ordinance Code of the .Cit7 of Pleasanton which would revise com- <br />prehensivelX the schedule of permitted and conditional uses in all of the com- <br />merciall~ zoned d~stricts except the CR(M) and..CR(P) Districts of the City of <br />Pleasanton <br /> (Intro. 2-27-7~, All Ayes) <br /> Mr. Brown requested that this item be continued to the meeting of April 24, 1979, <br />because the Planning Commission had not yet reviewed the ordinance but would do so <br />at their meeting of April 11, 1979. Council concurred. <br /> <br />SPECIAL REPORTS <br /> Mayor Brandes stated he had attended the Staff Traffic Committee meeting this <br />date at City Hall at which time parking problems on First Street was discussed. <br />He requested that Council take action to eliminate parking of large vehicles at <br />certain areas on First Street because of-the'dangeroUs situation it~creates~ <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was move~ by Mayor Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember <br />Wood, that Resolution No. 79-52, amending the traffic resolution, that parking of <br />vehicles in excess of twenty feet in length is prohibited on First Street on the <br />east side between Vineyard and Kottinger and on the west side between Ray Street <br />and Spring Street, be adopted. <br /> <br /> 5. 4/10/79 <br /> <br /> <br />
