Comments on this decision may be directed to either the planning . <br />staff prior to the above meeting date, or directly to the City Council at the <br />above noticed meeting <br />(Continued Open from 12-19-78) <br /> Mr. Harris presented his report dated January 3, 1979, regarding this matter. <br />He also presented two written communications; one from Kolln Fmrdware, Inc., <br />signed by J. E. Kolln and W. E. Lutz, in favor of the Ordinance; and one from <br />Edith Trimingham, 493 St. John Street, opposing the ordinance and requesting <br />that her property be removed from the list of properties for inclusion in the <br />H-O District. Mr. Harris explained that the proposed Ordinance was for the <br />purpose of creating the H-O District and that specific structures for inclu- <br />sion in this ordinance would be considered at subsequent public hearings. <br /> <br /> Considerable Council discussion ensued regarding the purpose and aims of <br />the newly proposed ordinance. Mayor Mercer stated this matter was initiated <br />by a'previous City Council when it was felt that a certain historical structure <br />was in danger of possible alteration. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing open. <br /> <br /> No one in the audience spoke in favor of the application. <br /> <br /> The following persons spoke in opposition to the proposed ordinance: <br /> <br /> Jim Trinimgham, 4419 Second Street <br /> Betty Rider, 4393 Mirador Drive <br /> John Edmands, 4672 Second Street <br /> Callie Heinbaugh, 4590 Mohr Avenue <br /> <br /> There being no further public testimony, Mayor Mercer declared the public <br />hearing closed. <br /> <br /> After considerable discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Wood, and - <br />seconded by Councilmember Butler, that the application of the City to amend <br />Chapter 2, Title II of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton by adding <br />Article 33, H-O (Historic Overlay) District, be denied. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Brandes, Butler, Kephart, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSE~NT: None <br /> <br /> it was moved by Councilmember Wood, and seconded by Councilmember Brandes, <br />that the existing H-O Ordinance be reconsidered by the City Council. <br /> <br /> After further discussion, Councilmember Wood withdrew his motion and <br />Councilmember Brandes withdrew his second. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Wood, and seconded by Mayor Mercer, that <br />Council initiate an ordinance repealing the existing H-O ordinance. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Brandes, Butler, Kephart, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSEnt: None <br /> <br /> 4. 1/9/79 <br /> <br /> <br />
