Mr. Jotten stated there was already a problem <br />with dust by the clearing of the property and that workers were there early on <br />Saturday and Sunday mornings with heavy equipment creating noise impacts to the <br />area. Mr. Jotten urged Council to deny the application and retain the General and <br />Limited Industrial zoning for the 60 acres in question. <br /> <br /> Mr. Kenneth Best, 2350 Royal Oak Drive, owner of the property adjacent to the <br />subject property, urged denial of the application and approval of industrial zoning. <br /> <br /> Mr. Larry Osborne, 1159 Kolln Street, representing the Industrial Committee of <br />the Chamber of Commerce, stated this area had already been approved as an industrial <br />park and that this type of development is needed and would be most compatible with <br />the neighborhood. <br /> <br /> Mr. John Innis, 1586 Foothill Road, stated that the Coalition for Responsible <br />Government group supports the opposition of the Amador Estates homeowners. <br /> <br /> ~. John Caroline rebutted the concerns of the opponents and stated that he <br />would investigate and control the dust problem in the area as well as the early <br />Saturday and Sunday morning noise impacts. <br /> <br /> There being no further testimony, Mayor Brandes declared the public hearing <br />closed on the application and the environmental impact report. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember Kephart, <br />that Resolution No. 79-252, denying the application of John and Joan Caroline for <br />a general plan amendment which would comprehensively change the land use designa- <br />tion of a 69 acre site located on the south side of Valley Avenue and immediately <br />easterly of the residences along Kolln Street from "General and Limited Industrial" <br />to "General and Limited Industrial/Commercial and Offices/Medium and/or High Den- <br />sity Residential", be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Butler, Kephart, Mercer, Wood, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Due to the above action taken by Council, no action was required on taken by <br />the Council on the environmental impact report prepared for this proposal. <br /> <br /> Mayor Brandes recessed the meeting at 9:45 P.M. <br /> <br /> Mayor Brandes reconvened the meeting at 9:50 P.M. <br /> <br />Application of Iver Hilde and Walter R.
