It was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember Butler, <br />that Resolution No. 79-234, reappointing Marcelline Mahern as a member of the Human <br />Services Commission, said term to expire October 22, 1983, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Butler, Kephart, Mercer, Wood, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Kephart, and seconded by Councilmember Mercer, <br />that Resolution No. 79-235, appointing Doris Slater to fill the unexpired term of <br />Janet Kramer on the Human Services Commission, said term to expire October 22, 1980, <br />be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Butler, Kephart, Mercer, Wood, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Councilmember Wood asked if there was a senior citizens rate on the sewer <br />services charge. Mr. Walker advised there is a 20% discount allowed for senior <br />citizens on the sewer service charge when they apply for it. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Butler stated that the Pleasanton P.T.A.'s are considering taking <br />action relative to Portable Madness and their sale of drug paraphernalia to minors. <br />He stated that the property owner may be able to bring more pressure than the City. <br />Mayor Brandes advised that he had written a letter to the various P.T.A.'s and <br />Parents Clubs enlisting their support on this issue. He stated that he had re- <br />ceived several replies and would be meeting with representatives of these groups <br />after the holidays. He advised that he would be meeting with the property owner <br />relative to this matter and that Councilmember Kephart would be meeting with the <br />ministers of the City on this subject. Mayor Brandes stated that the City Attorney <br />is in the process of preparing an ordinance relative to the matter. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Councilmembers presented various Committee Reports for the information of the <br />Council. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Butler stated that he and Councilmember Kephart had met with <br />Stoneridge homeowners regarding the proposed general plan amendment change for <br />that portion of the Stoneridge Shopping Center site that had been planned for a <br />BART Station. Councilmember Butler stated that there was discussion regarding <br />possible land uses under the proposed change. He advised that the concerns of the <br />homeowners were also discussed and that these concerns should be considered at the <br />public hearing relative to this matter. Councilmember Butler requested that a <br />letter be sent to the Stoneridge Homeowners Association notifying them of the City <br />Council public hearing relative to the proposed general plan amendment application <br />of the Stoneridge Shopping Center. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mercer reported on a meeting with Senator Holmdahl regarding <br />the opening of additional lanes on 1-580, and stated that no further City Council <br />action was necessary until receipt of additional information from Senator Holmdahl <br />regarding clarification of an agreement for the added truck lanes on 1-580. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mercer reported on the LAV~L~ meeting of November 15, 1979, stating <br />that the Board had voted to continue the existing Manager's contract, and had voted <br />to continue the engineering on the water reclamation study.
