Approval of Improvement Plans for Johnson Drive Extension, Parcel Map No. 2566; <br /> moved to item 12c on the agenda. <br /> <br />'~ The roll call vote was as follows: <br />~' AYES: Councilmen Butler, Kephart, Mercer, Wood, and Mayor Brandes <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABS~rf: None <br /> <br /> MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS <br /> Councilmember Mercer requested that the vacant lot adjacent to the Veterans <br /> Memorial Building be cleaned up and all debris removed. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mercer inquired if the City still collected leaves from the <br /> streets. Mr. Campbell advised that the Street Department was in the process of <br /> picking up leaves at this time. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mercer stated he had recently requested a report regarding the <br /> feasibility of licensing bicycles at a time other than Saturday mornings, and <br /> inquired as to the status of this report. Mr. Walker advised he was working on <br /> the report and is attempting to work out a procedure whereby bicycle licensing <br /> can be done by mail. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mercer stated that in some cities stickers are placed in windows <br /> of residences to indicate where persons are sleeping to assist police and fire <br /> department personnel in case of emergency. He asked if there were grant funds <br /> available for this type of program or if local groups might sponsor such a program. <br /> Staff stated they would report back on this matter. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mercer requested that the Fire Chief be instructed to write a <br /> letter or an article regarding Christmas fire safety for publication in the local <br /> newspapers. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mercer requested that appointments to the Human Services Commis- <br /> sion be made at this time. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember Butler, <br /> that Resolution No. 79-233, reappointing Gerald V. Case as a member of the Human <br /> Services Commission, said term to expire October 22, 1983, be adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmen Butler, Kephart, Mercer, Wood, and Mayor Brandes <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> 2. 11/27/79 <br /> <br /> <br />
