Mr. Lance Ruckteschler, 2224 Greenwood Road, stated he disagreed with the staff <br />report and felt there was a great need for traffic controls on Valley at Greenwood <br />for the safety of children going to school and various sports activities after <br />school hours and on Saturday. He suggested that stop signs be installed on a tem- <br />porary basis to see if this would alleviate the problem. He pointed out that the <br />speed survey was done while school was not in session and it would increase with <br />speeding high school students. <br /> <br /> Mr. Gregg Doherty, 2282 Greenwood, stated he favored additional controls, at <br />Valley and Greenwood. He stated that enforcement of the speed limit is essential <br />for the safety of pedestrians in this area. <br /> <br /> Mr. William Kovac, 3124 Weymouth Court, stated he concurred with the two pre- <br />vious speakers. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mercer stated he did not agree with the staff report and felt <br />that additional traffic controls should be installed. <br /> <br /> After considerable discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded <br />by Councilmember Kephart, that Resolution No. 79-174, amending the Traffic Resolution <br />to place a four-way Stop sign at Valley Avenue and Greenwood Road, for a period of <br />one year on a trial basis, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Kephart, Mercer, Wood, and MayorBrandes <br />NOES: Councilman Butler <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember Wood, that <br />a four-way Stop sign be placed at Valley Avenue and Crestline Road, for a period of <br />one year on a trial basis. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Mercer and Wood <br />NOES: Councilmen Butler, Kephart, and Mayor Brandes <br />ABSEnt: None <br /> <br />MATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION <br />Adoption of Ordinance No. 902, .to prezone a 35 acre site located between the Rose- <br />pointe subdivision and H~.ppy ~alle7 R0~d, immediately westerly of Amber Lane, to <br />the R-1-20~000 (Single-Family Kesidential) District~ and amendin~ the Zoning. Map <br />of the City of Pleasanton accordingly. <br />(Introduced 9-11-79~ 4,AXes~ 1-No). <br /> Mayor Brandes stated that Ordinance No. 902 was introduced on September 11, <br />1979, by a vote of 4-Ayes, 1-No, and that it was now in order to adopt the ordi- <br />nance. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Kephart, and seconded by Councilmember Butler, <br />that Ordinance No. 902, prezoning an approximately 35 acre parcel of land owned <br />by Ernest Pestana located between the Rosepointe Subdivision and Happy Valley Road <br />innnediately westerly of Amber Lane to the R-1-20,000 (Single-Family Residential) <br />District (Zoning Unit Map #192), be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Butler, Kephart, Mercer, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: Councilman Wood <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> 8. 9/18/79 <br /> <br /> <br />
