This <br />Initial Study is available for review at the Plannin~ Divisions 200 Bernal Avenue~ <br />Pleasanton. Comments on this decision may be directed to either the Planning <br />staff prior to the above meeting dat.e~ or directly to.the City Council at the <br />above noticed meeting <br /> Mr. Harris presented his report dated August 9, 1979, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Brandes declared the public hearing open on the application and the <br />negative declaration. <br /> <br /> Mr. Jack Bras, 'representing himself, stated this is essentially the same <br />application as the previous one, and will be an improvement to the community. <br /> <br /> The following persons wished to go on record in opposition to this item for <br />the same reasons as stated in the public hearing above on Caroline-Knudson, Inc.: <br /> <br /> Mrs. Phyllis Cooper, 6525 Alisal, representing Alisal Improvement Club <br /> Mr. Steve Jensen, 1133 Happy Valley Road <br /> Miss Jan Morris, 700 Happy Valley Road <br /> <br /> Mrs. Nancy Donner, 582 Happy Valley Road', expressed concern regarding the <br />narrowness of the railroad underpass and increased traffic generated because of <br />this development. <br /> <br /> Mr. Bernie Roth, 720 Mockingbird Lane, stated he was concerned about the <br />potential change in life style due to commercial or office development in the area. <br /> <br /> Mr. Jack Bras rebutted the concerns of the opponents stating the development <br />will be general offices and will generate less traffic than commercial development. <br /> <br /> There being no further testimony, Mayor Brandes declared the public hearing <br />closed on the application and the negative declaration. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember Butler, <br />that Resolution No. 79-145, determining on the basis of a review of initial en- <br />vironmental study done for this project, that no significant environmental impact <br /> Cit ' <br />would occur as outlined in the y s guidelines and that a Negative Declaration <br />is appropriate for an amendment to the General Plan which would change the land <br />use designation of a 2 acre parcel of land located on the northeast corner of Sunol <br />Boulevard and Happy Valley Road from "Industrial" to "Commercial and Offices", be <br />adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Butler, Mercer, Wood, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Kephart <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Councilmember Mercer, <br />that the application of J. Jack Bras for an amendment to the General Plan which <br />would change the land use designation of a 2 acre parcel of land located on'the <br />northeast corner of Sunol Boulevard and Happy Valley Road from "Industrial" to <br />"Commercial and Offices", be approved. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Butler, Mercer, Wood, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Kephart <br /> <br /> 17, 8/28/79 <br /> <br /> <br />
