FAyor Mercer advised he had received a letter from the Chamber of Commerce <br />requesting an additional $1,000.00, in addition to the $3,500.00 already paid, for <br />completion of the industrial brochure because of increased costs of printing. <br />Councilmember Kephart stated he had concerns at the time Council approved the <br />payment of $3,500.00 to the Chamber for this brochure that the cost would increase, <br />and he expressed concern that the costs could go even higher. He stated he felt <br />this expense was not an obligation of the City. After discussion, it was moved by <br />Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Mayor Mercer, that Resolution No. 80-315, <br />authorizing a payment of $1,000.00 to the Chamber of Commerce for increased cost <br />of printing the Industrial Brochure for the City of Pleasanton, and amending the <br />fiscal budget accordingly, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Mohr, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: Councilmember Kephart <br />ABSENT: Councilmember Wood <br /> <br /> Councilmember Kephart requested that staff survey the number of caves, mines, <br />wells, cess pools, etc., in the City for any existing potential. hazards, in light <br />of the tragedy at the Pittsburg mine recently. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Councilmembers presented various Committee Reports for the information of the <br />Council. <br /> <br />MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> Mr. Herbert E. Walsh, 4726 Black Avenue, requested that the City investigate the <br />entrance lanes at the Amador High School Parking Lot, as he felt this was a dangerous <br />distuation. Mayor Mercer instructed staff to review this matter. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />Appeal of Interstate Uniform Services Corporation of a decision of the Planning <br />Commission denying their application for a conditional use .permit which would allOW <br />an addition 9f 2,.5.0~ sq. ft. to the existin~ nuclear laundry facility at 65 Ray... <br />Street. Zonin~ for the property is C-S (Commercial Service) District <br />(Contd. Open. from 9-16-80 and 10-28-80) <br /> Mr. Harris presented his report (SR 80:357) dated December 2, 1980, regarding this <br />mat t er. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer declared the continued public hearing open. <br /> <br /> Mr. Eraig Connolly, representing Interstate Industrial Uniform Rental Services, <br />Inc., stated he had presented all additional information at the City Council meeting <br />of October 28, 1980. He reiterated that the application is for an expansion to store <br />clean clothing, and that he did not want to debate thematter of nuclear power. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Butler requested Mr. Connolly to review the intended use of the <br />proposed addition. Mr. Connolly stated that the laundry leases clothing on an as- <br />needed basis to various accounts. He stated their storage room is cramped and that <br />additional space is needed for the storage of clothing. He advised there is lint <br />collector equipment now at the rear of the building that will be housed inside the <br />proposed addition. Mr. Connolly stated his firm agreed to the 27 conditions relat- <br />ing to approval of the application. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mohr asked who determines space requirements.
