175 <br /> <br /> Matters for the Information of the Council <br /> Mayor Mercer presented the list of assignments to the Councilmembers for their <br /> liaison on the various Boards and Commissions. <br /> <br /> Resolution in Support of Distribution of Parkland and Renewable Resources Bond Issue <br /> Funds <br /> Mr. Walker presented the report of the Director of Recreation and Human Resources <br /> dated April 17, 1980, regarding this matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer suggested that it be emphasized that the City get money to put into <br /> urban park facilities rather than into raw land. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Mayor Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember Butler, that Resolu- <br /> tion No. 80-110, supporting the priority plan for expenditure of Alameda County <br /> allocation of the 1980 Parklands and Renewable Resources Bond Issue, be adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Mohr, and Mayor Mercer <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: Councilmembers Kephart and Wood <br /> <br /> Authorization to Call for Bids to move House at 391 St..Mary Street <br /> Councilmember Butler stated he had requested this item be removed from the Con- <br /> sent Calendar for discussion because he was concerned about the visual impact this <br /> building would have on the Civic Center and its effects on the total master plan for <br /> future improvements, even though he had originally voted in favor of the move. He <br /> stated he felt it was inappropriate at this time to move the house until more specific <br /> site locations have been determined for the proposed police facility and cultural arts <br /> building. Councilmember Butler added that he did not want to delay the Peters Avenue <br /> project but was concerned about moving the house at 391 St. Mary Street tO the Civic <br /> Center site. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mohr stated she shared these concerns even though the building <br /> would allow for cost-effective office space at City Hall. <br /> <br /> Mayor Mercer stated he had no objection to putting the house up for bids stipu- <br /> lating that the present sewer connection goes with the house, to see what kind of <br /> response there might be to this type of purchase. Mayor Mercer also suggested the <br /> possibility of the City purchasing land, moving the house on the land, then selling <br /> it. <br /> <br /> After discussion, Council instructed staff to advertize for offers for purchase <br /> of the house at 391 St. Mary Street to be moved from this location and the sewer <br /> connection included, with a minimum offer of $10,000 and with Council retaining the <br /> right to refuse any and all offers, to report back to Council on these offers at <br /> which time it will be determined whether to sell the house or move it to the Civic <br /> Center site.
