It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Councilmember Mohr, that Resolution No. 80-104, after hearing no objections at the public hearing, authorize the appropriate staff members to proceed with the abatement of the nuisance caused by noxious or dangerous weeds growing on certain properties in the City of Pleasanton as more particularly set forth in Exhibit A to Resolution No. 80-67, be adopted. It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Councilmember Mohr, that Ordinance No. 932, to be read by title only and waiving further reading thereof, after making the following findings: (1) there have been numerous instances re- cently of fatalities in Hotels and Motels throughout the United States; (2) sub- sequent investigation has revealed the units involved to be in substantial compli- ance with the Building Codes; (3) the fires and fatalities were proven to be caused by poor maintenance, bypassing of safety features and/or excessive fire load caused by furnishings, wall coverings and floor coverings; (4) the use of automatic fire sprinklers has proven to be a reliable life-saving system; and (5) the City of Pleasanton is desirous of protecting life and limb of all persons residing in Hotels and Motels within the City of Pleasanton; and adopting by reference the 1979 Edi- tions of the Uniform Building Code, the Uniform Plumbing Code, the UniformMechani- cal Code, the Uniform Housing Code, the Uniform Fire Code, and the National Electri- cal Code (1978 Edition), and amending sections of the Ordinance Code of the City of Pleasanton which adopt and modify those Codes, be introduced.
