Councilmember Butler requested the Traffic Department to look at the problem Of <br /> sight distance for traffic westbound on Kottinger Avenue crossing Firs Street. Mr. <br /> Campbell stated that staff will investigate this matter. <br /> <br /> Mayor Brandes expressed concern regarding the installation of the traffic island <br /> at Johnson Industrial Drive. Mr. Campbell advised that the lanes are very narrow at <br /> this time but will be widened as soon as possible and that this will correct the pro- <br /> blem. Council instructed staff to make certain the markers are proper and to take <br /> other measures to correct the problem at the earliest possible time. <br /> <br /> Mayor Brandes advised that Caltrans has scheduled a public hearing at 7:30 P.M., <br />March 4, 1980, in the Fairgrounds Cafeteriai to discuss the West Las Positas Over- <br />crossing. He encouraged everyone interested in this matter to attend the meeting <br /> <br /> Mayor Brandes stated that in response to many parents of school children relative <br />to additional crossing guards at major streets, the City has been cooperative in the <br />past in providing this service, however, this service is the responsibility of the <br />school district. He advised that the City cannot be responsible for the funding of <br />additional crossing guards. Mayor Brandes instructed staff to write a letter to the <br />School District stating that the City would have to carefully review any proposal <br />regarding additional crossing guards and not to assume the City can fund this in- <br />creased service. <br /> <br /> Mayor Brandes requested permission from the City Council to instruct staff to <br />re-evaluate the existing contract between the City and Willow West Properties and <br />to prepare a report for Council review. Council concurred. <br /> <br /> Mayor Brandes stated there were some parking abuses from 1-680 to the. end of <br />Johnson Industrial Drive. After discussion, Council instructed staff to prepare a <br />report for review on March 11, 1980, relative to plactng."No Parking" signs to <br />prohibit truck parking further down on Johnson Industrial Drive from the existing <br />no parking signing on the freeway side. <br /> <br /> Mayor Brandes expressed concern regarding the elimination of funding by the <br />County to maintain and operate the Livermore-Amador Valley Historical Museum at the <br />Fairgrounds. He requested support by the various organizations in the City to keep <br />the museum open for the benefit of the Valley. Mayor Brandes also requested the <br />strong support of the City Council to endorse the efforts of the Livermore-Amador <br />Valley Historical Society to retain the museum. 'Council pledged support in this <br />matter. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Councilmembers presented various Committee Reports for the information of the <br />Council. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by ~yor Brandes, that <br />Resolution No. 80-43, to place a measure on the June ballot relative to enlarging <br />sewer capacity by .5 MGD in the DSRSD Plant for Industrial (including non-retail <br />commercial) use, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Butler, Kephart, Mercer, Wood, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Council instructed the City Attorney to prepare a report suggesting the appro- <br />priate language regarding this matter, for review at the meeting of March 11, 1980. <br /> <br /> <br />
