Councilmember Butler emphasized that this was a vetx low-level type of nuclear <br />waste and was no threat to health, safety, and welfare. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Council- <br />member Mercer, that Resolution No. 80-33, approving the Agreement between the City <br />and Southwest Nuclear Company, for compliance within 30 days, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Butler, Mercer, Wood, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Kephart <br /> <br /> After further discussion, it was moved by Mayor Brandes, and seconded by <br />Councilmember Mercer, instructing staff to prepare a report relating to the initia- <br />tion of action which would require radioactive or other types of businesses with <br />questionable hazardous materials involved to be required to secure a Conditional <br />Use Permit for their operation in the City of Pleasanton. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Butler, Mercer, Wood, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Councilman Kephart <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS <br /> Councilmember Mercer stated'he had met with Sheriff Glenn Dyer to discuss the <br />proposed Women's Correctional facility at Santa Rita. He advised that the Board <br />of Supervisors passed a resolution to take no official position and directed the <br />County Administrator's office to review two options relative to this matter. <br />Councilmember Mercer stated that Sheriff Dyer suggested that Council take a posi- <br />tion in opposition to the facility. Councilmember Mercer requested that the <br />appropriate letters be transmitted and the State contacted regarding Council's <br />opposition to the Women's Correctional facility. Council concurred. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mercer requested that an up-dated report be prepared regarding <br />the various alternatives for BART lines to service Pleasanton and the timetable <br />involved, for review by Council. He suggested that a citizens committee be formed <br />to study the most logical route for BART into Pleasanton. Council concurred and <br />instructed staff to prepare a report containing alternate plans for BART service <br />to Pleasanton. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Councilmembers presented various Committee Reports for the information of the <br />Council. <br /> <br />MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC <br /> Mr. Robert Ferguson, 4156 Jensen Street, requested that a street light be turned <br />back on in this area. He introduced Mr. and Mrs. Burns, Mr. and Mrs. Hardin, and <br />Mr. and Mrs. Brennan,~ll elderly residents residing on Jensen Street who concurred <br />that a street light' should be turned back on for safety reasons. Mr. Ferguson cited <br />an excessive number of street lights on Main Street, Neal Street between Main and <br />First Streets, and on St. John's Street. <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Wood, and seconded by Council- <br />member Mercer, that after finding certain conditions exist on Jensen Street, that <br />a street light be turned back on and paid for by the City. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: ' <br />AYES: Councilmen Butler, Mercer, and Wood <br />NOES: Mayor Brandes <br />ABSENT: Councilman Kephart <br /> <br /> <br />
