Councilmember Mercer requested that letters of appreciation signed by the Mayor <br />be sent to City employees, Police and Fire personnel, Livermore-Amador Valley React <br />Club, and the Livermore-Amador Valley Chapter of the American Red Cross, for their <br />outstanding efforts in the recent rainstorm on January 13, 1980, that caused many <br />minor emergencies. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mercer requested staff to investigate the possibility of the use <br /> of home water softeners now that the LAVWMA pipeline is almost completed and will <br /> transport waste to the Bay. Mr. Campbell advised he would report back on this matter. <br /> <br /> Ceuncilmember Mercer requested that a measure be placed on the April Ballot for <br />advisory vote only relative to full use of 1-580, in an attempt to convey to the <br />State and the Sierra Club the feelings of the citizens of Pleasanton regarding ~his <br />matter. After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by <br />~.~yor Brandes, that Resolution No. 80-21, placing the following measure on the April <br />Ballot for advisory vote only <br /> <br /> "Shall the City of Pleasanton take all appropriate steps to <br /> cause the State of California to remove the restrictions on <br /> the use of traffic lanes on that portion of 1-580 recently <br /> widened, west of the City of Pleasanton, including the <br /> elimination of "Diamond Lane Restrictionst' and the comple- <br /> tion of the travel lanes currently unavailable to traffic?" <br /> <br />with the last date to submit arguments set at February 5, 1980, and rebuttals at <br />February 15, 1980, as set forth by the City Attorney's report, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Butler, Kephart, Mercer, Wood, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: None <br />ABSEnt: None <br /> <br />Pleasanton Housing Authority Board Member Appointments <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Councilmember Mercer, that <br />Resolution No. 80-22, appointing E. A. Davis as a member of the Pleasanton Housing <br />Authority Board for a full four-year term, said term to expire on January 25, 1984, <br />be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Butler, Kephart, Mercer, Wood, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Councilmember Kephart, that <br />Resolution No. 80-23, appointing Donna Graves as a member of the Pleasanton Housing <br />Authority Board to fill the unexptred term of Howard Neely, said term to expire on <br />February 1, 1982, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmen Butler, Kephart, Mercer, and Mayor Brandes <br />NOES: Councilman Wood <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Councilmembers presented various Committee Reports for the information of the <br />Council. <br /> <br /> 4. 1/22/80 <br /> <br /> <br />
