Proclaim June 12, 1981, as Community Health Friday. <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />.ABSENT: None <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS <br />~resentation by John"ClatW0rt'~y,'Pleasanton's Representa6ive to the Alameda Count~ <br />Library Committee <br /> Mr. John Cla~o~thy" dpaated the 'cW~ges in the library system Since last y~a'r. <br />He stated that because of increased funding from the State. and other sources, the <br />County has been able to open the library an additional day per week, seven hours <br />per day and two evenings per week. He stated that staff in Pleasanton has been in- <br />creased and that there had been some personnel changes due to transfers and reloca- <br />tions. Mr. Clatworthy urged Council to support a new'bill SB 358, to reinstate <br />State assistance to libraries, and to notify the appropriate representatives of <br />this support. Mr. Clatworthy reviewed the proposed 1981-82 budget and alternatives <br />for service depending on funding that will be received. He pledged the best pos- <br />sible service with available funding for the City of Pleasanton. Councilmember <br />Butler thanked Mr. Clatworthy for his report and for his excellent service as <br />Pleasanton's representative on the Alameda County Library Committee. Council con- <br />curred. <br /> <br />Report on Legislation <br /> Mr. Levine presented his report (SR 81:198) dated June 4, 1981, regarding this <br />matter. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Mayor Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember Wood, to support <br />AB 1206, "Professional Drivers"; AB 165, to increase the limitation on indebtedness <br />of the California Housing Finance Agency .by $350,000,000; AB 1200, to allow for <br />$400,000,000 in water pollution bonds to be issued; and AB 579, to change the tax <br />rates for small business corporations; and to oppose AB 893, to create a California <br />Communities Commission; and AB 287, to provide vested rights upon granting a tenta- <br />tive subdivision map as to all issues that could have been considered at the time <br />of its granting; and instructing the City Attorney to advise the appropriate legis- <br />lators of this action. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />Commendations <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Butler, and seconded by Councilmember Wood, that <br />the City Council posthumously honor Chan Henderson and John Am~ral for their long <br />and outstanding civic service to the community, and to present the commendations <br />to their wives. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Kephart~ ~ohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None '- <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mohr stated that the Highway Patrol had not used scrips on Sunol <br />Boulevard in quite sometime to weigh trucks.
