Mayor Mercer stated he had received correspondence from the Employment Develop- ment Department requesting that the week of May 3-9, 1981, be observed as "Hire a Veteran Week" in California. It was moved by Mayor Mercer, and seconded by Council- member Mohr, that Resolution No. 81-128, endorsing May 3-9, 1981, as "Hire a Veteran Week", be adopted. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, Mohr,.Wood, and Mayor Mercer NOES: None ABSENT: None Councilmember Wood requested that the Tennis Town building be inspected for earthquake safety standards. CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS Councilmembers presented various Committee Reports for the information of the Council. MEETING OPEN TO TH~ PUBLIC Mr. Frank C. Brandes, Jr., 6889 Corte Sonads, stated that representatives from Livermore had recently returned from a trip to Yotsukaido, Japan - Livermore's Sister City. Mrs. Toni Cach, Livenore representative, presented gifts to the City of Pleasanton from the Mayor and citizens of Yotsukaido. These gifts included a replica of a train conductor's hat, a Seiko wall clock to be placed in City Hall, and a Carp Kite to be flown on May 5th in honor of Children's Day in Japan. Mayor Mercer and members of the Council expressed appreciation and thanks for these gifts. PUBLIC HEARINGS Application of Meyer .Propert.ies~. He stated that Mr. Meyer's project is now proposed to have 5 story buildings instead of 14 and 8 story buildings, in height.'
