Mayor Mercer stated he had received correspondence from the Employment Develop- <br />ment Department requesting that the week of May 3-9, 1981, be observed as "Hire a <br />Veteran Week" in California. It was moved by Mayor Mercer, and seconded by Council- <br />member Mohr, that Resolution No. 81-128, endorsing May 3-9, 1981, as "Hire a Veteran <br />Week", be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, Mohr,.Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Councilmember Wood requested that the Tennis Town building be inspected for <br />earthquake safety standards. <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Councilmembers presented various Committee Reports for the information of the <br />Council. <br /> <br />MEETING OPEN TO TH~ PUBLIC <br /> Mr. Frank C. Brandes, Jr., 6889 Corte Sonads, stated that representatives from <br />Livermore had recently returned from a trip to Yotsukaido, Japan - Livermore's Sister <br />City. Mrs. Toni Cach, Livenore representative, presented gifts to the City of <br />Pleasanton from the Mayor and citizens of Yotsukaido. These gifts included a <br />replica of a train conductor's hat, a Seiko wall clock to be placed in City Hall, <br />and a Carp Kite to be flown on May 5th in honor of Children's Day in Japan. Mayor <br />Mercer and members of the Council expressed appreciation and thanks for these gifts. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />Application of Meyer .Propert.ies~.
