Mayor Mercer stated he had observed a similar pipe storage facility in
Union City and that it was very unsightly.· He felt such a facility at the entrance
to the City of Pleasanton would not be appropriate. He requested this item be
appealed in order to discuss I-C zoning uses in this area.

After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Wood, and seconded by Council-
member Mohr, to appeal the decision of the Design Review Board in approving Z-81-143,
application of Vorelco of California, Inc., and Dillingham Construction for design
review approval of a vehicle maintenance, storage, and pipe assembly facility con-
sisting of two structures totalling 20,220 sq. ft. and an open storage area on a
2.75 acre site on the north side of Johnson Drive approximately 400 feet north of
its intersection with Stoneridge Drive, zoning for the property is I-G-40,000 (General
Industrial) District.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilmember Kephart

Councilmember Mohr stated she was concerned about the number of signs with
multiple uses in a single building, specifically at the Stoneridge Shopping Center,
and suggested the sign requirements be reviewed. After discussion, it was moved by
Councilmember Mohr, and seconded by Mayor Mercer, that an itembe placed on the next
agenda to discuss the sign ordinance as it relates to the Stoneridge Shopping Center.
The roll call vote was as follows:
AYES: Councilmember Mohr and Mayor Mercer
NOES: Councilmembers Butler and Wood
ABSENT: Councilmember Kephart

The motion therefore fails.

Actions Taken by the Plannin~ Commission at their meeting of 12-16-81
Mr. Harris presented his report (SR 81:453). dated December 17, 1981, regarding
this matter for the information of the Council.
