Councilmember Mohr stated he had received complaints from several citizens <br /> regarding the inconvenience caused by the spraying. She expressed concern regard- <br /> ing the cost of unnecessary spraying to the citizens. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Mohr, and seconded by Mayor Mercer, to notify <br /> the Madfly Project Committee requesting that Pleasanton not be sprayed with mala- <br /> thton more than two life cycles of the madfly because of cost and inconvenience. <br /> <br /> Councilmembers Kephart,'~utler, and Wood concurred that Madfly Project techni- <br /> cians were more knowledgeable than the City Council ot Pleasanton citizens regarding <br /> the amount of spraying that should be done, and that this decision should be left to <br /> them. <br /> <br /> Mr. Lowenthal stated that all he is asking for, is that Pleasanton be treated no <br /> differently than the citizens of the rest of the State, and to be sprayed for two <br /> life cycles of the medfly only. <br /> <br /> After discussion, Councilmember Mohr withdrew her motion, and Mayor Mercer <br />withdrew his second. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Kephart, and.seconded by Councilmember Wood, that <br />a letter be transmitted from the Mayor to Mr. Jerry Scribner, Madfly Project Director, <br />with a copy to Mr. Lowenthal, requesting that the City of Pleasanton not be sprayed <br />with malathion any longer than necessary. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Butler, Kephart, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br />Appeal of Val'I~y Business Associates,of a decision .of the Planning COmmission denying <br />a major modification to Case PUD-80-1 to change the streets in the busipess park pro- <br />posed for the 69 acre site located south of Valley Avenu~ and east of the re.~id~p~es <br />on Kolln Street from private to public <br />(Contd.
