423

Mr. Peter Wolf, 2484 Heatherlark, stated that the closing of any road is a
waste of money. He stated he had lived in the area for twelve years and that
Heatherlark and Secretariat have always had a lot of traffic and people knew that
when they bought their homes there. He stated a fence around the park would be a
much better expenditure of funds instead of closing roads.

Mr. Jack Banks, 2514 Heatherlark, stated that the closing of Secretariat will
create a traffic tie up at peak hours. He suggest a left turn lane off Hopyard and
the construction of speed bumps on Secretariat.

Mrs. Denise Fagliano, 2595 Secretariat, stated she did not know of the traffic
problems when they bought their home on Secretariat. She cited several incidents
of accidents since they have lived in this location. She stated the road is danger-
ous the way it is and that the alternatives and impacts are minor compared to the
hazardous situation that now exists.

Mr. Jerry Feehey, 2550 Secretariat, stated that heavy traffic flows depend on
the time of day. He stated he had conducted his own traffic count and that most of
the traffic is from the neighborhood. He recommended the complete closure of Secre-
tariat and make a left turn lane on Goldcrest. He stated he had no preference as to
which end is closed.

Mr. Tim Moore, 2558 Secretariat, stated there were lots of problems related to
traffic at commute hours and that the roadway is especially scarey on weekends. He
stated he was first in favor of closing Secretariat at Hopyard, but now favored
closing it at Northway.

Mr. Ken Sowers, 2573 Secretariat, stated there needs to be some relief from the
traffic, and that the City engineers should decide what is the best way to do this.

Mr. Bob Johnson, 2297 Goldcrest, stated the idea of closing the street off is
fine as ·long as it is cut off at Northway, otherwise it will create problems getting
into Goldcrest.

Mr. Bill Atteberry, 5887 Northway, recommended a decrease in the amount of
traffic from Hopyard to Valley, not Valley to Northway. He favored closing Secre-
tariat at Northway.

Mr. Bob Hernbroth, 2518 Secretariat, cited an incident of a car crashing into
his garage door, indicating that the turn on Secretariat at the frontage road end was
troublesome too. He recommended closing Secretariat at the Hopyard end.

Mr. Jerry Platt, 2534 Secretariat, stated that there is definitely a problem in
this area and that something needs to be done. He stated he first favored Alternate
A, then Alternate B, but after hearing the proposal tonight of the closing of Secre-
tariat at Northway, he felt this is the best alternative.

Mr. Larry Moyer, 2142 Goldcrest, stated he favored closing Secretariat at the
Northway end, and placing a left turn lane on Hopyard at Goldcrest. He stated
there needs to be increased police traffic control in this area.

Mr. George Williams, 2502 Secretariat, stated that the total closure of Secre-
tariat is definitely the better choice; that closing it at Northway will only solve
a partial amount of the problem. He stated that Alternative B is the preferable
solution.

Mr. Robert Fagllano, 2595 Secretariat, stated he is amenable to the closing of
Secretariat at Northway, and feels this would be effective.

5. 5/11/82
