133 <br /> <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Mercer, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Butler <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> RESOLUTION ACCEPTING N~J CITY COUNCIL CHAMBERS FROM PLEASANTON COUNCIL CHAMBERS~ INC. <br /> Mr. Walker presented his report (SR 82:362) dated September 9, 1982, regarding <br /> this matter. <br /> <br /> Mr. William Gale, representing the Pleasanton Council Chambers, Inc., a non-profit <br /> corporation, stated the council chambers and its furnishings, the conference room, and <br /> the foyer and bathrooms were added to the Civic Center with donations from the people <br /> of Pleasanton and invested developers. Mr. Gale expressed appreciation to all donees <br /> who made this facility possible. He stated that all transactions were now complete, <br /> a final financial statement submitted showing a surplus of $520.14, and that it was <br /> now in order to turn the building over to the City and to dissolve the non-profit <br /> corporation. <br /> <br /> Mayor Butler expressed the great appreciation of the City Council and staff for <br /> the fantastic job of the Board of Directors, to the donees, and to all who worked on <br /> the building. <br /> <br /> Mr. Dee Wilson, member of the Pleasanton Council Chambers, Inc., expressed appre- <br />ciation to the citizens of Pleasanton for their cooperation in this fine community <br />effort. He also expressed appreciation to Mr. Walker, City Manager, for his assist- <br />ance in keeping the financial records of the non-profit corporation. He presented a <br />check for the surplus funds in the amount of $520.14, to the City to be used as de- <br />sired. He presented Mr. Walker with a wall clock for his efforts. Mr. Ted Fairfield, <br />member of the Pleasanton Council Chambers, Inc., read the plaque engraved on the clock <br />as follows: "In appreciation of special services rendered toward financing and develop- <br /> Cit t <br />ment of the y s new Council Chambers". Mr. Walker thanked the non-profit corpora- <br /> tion for this token of appreciation. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mercer stated that in the beginning there was some controversy about <br />donations for this cause, but in the fine spirit of the people of Pleasanton sufficient <br />donations were contributed and the much needed addition to the Civic Center was con- <br />structed. He expressed special appreciation to Messrs. Gale, Wilson, and Fairfield, <br />Board of Directors for Pleasanton Council Chambers, Inc., for their bold steps to <br />undertake responsibility for construction of the Council Chambers. Councilmembers <br />concurred. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember Mohr, that <br />Resolution No. 82-349, accepting the gift of the Pleasanton Council Chambers facility <br />from Pleasanton Council Chambers, and gift of surplus funds in the amount of $520.14, <br />be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Mercer, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Butler <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS <br /> Councilmember Mercer asked that staff do something to correct the bump in Peters <br />Avenue. Mr. Walker stated he would bring back a request for budget amendment to allow <br />this improvement to Peters Avenue. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Mercer requested Council approval to ask the City Attorney to inves- <br />tigate the legality of Margaret Tracy, a member of the Zone 7 Board, also being a <br />member of a committee that has taken legal action against the City.
