' 371 <br /> <br /> Ms. Sue Evans, S610 Paseo Navarro, asked why items 2 and 3 were removed from <br />the public hearing. Mayor Butler advised that the School District felt there were <br />some questions that needed answering before taking action on these parcels. Ms. <br />Evans stated she felt the site between Black Avenue and Hansen Drive should remain <br />a school site. She requested to be notified when there are further public hearings <br />on this particular item. <br /> <br /> Mr. Gary Gilmore, attorney representing Pleasanton Joint School District, re- <br />viewed the reasons for removing items 2 and 3 from the public hearing; stating that <br />the City has expressed an interest in a land exchange with regard to the park in the <br />Mission Hills area, and that after meetings with various groups it was felt that <br />further study should be given to the site located between Black Avenue and Hansen <br />Drive for possible future need as a school site. He stated that State law requires <br />taxing vacant lan~ after a five year period, and that this tax is creating a great <br />financial burden on the school district. He added that the tax continues to go up <br />every year. <br /> <br /> Mr. Bill Berck, Superintendent of Schools, 565 St. Mary Street, stated t~School <br />District is told by State law how this money can be spent; and it is their intent to <br />use it for capital needs. He stated the only salvation for maintenance needs is <br />through the sale of this school property. <br /> <br /> There being no further testimony, Mayor Butler declared the public hearing closed <br />on the application and the negative declaration. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by Councilmember Mohr, that <br />Resolution No. 83-545, determining on the basis of a review of initial environmental <br />study done for this project, that no significant environmental impact would occur as <br />outlined in the City~s guidelines and that a negative declaration is appropriate to <br />approve the application of the Pleasanton Joint School District to amend the general <br />plan land use designation from Schools to Medium Density Residential with regard to <br />the following three sites: (1) approximately 0.9 acres located near the eastern <br />terminus of loweP Abble Street just north of the Pleasanton Elementary School site; <br />(2) approximately 22.2 acres just north of the eastern terminus of Cretlin Road; and <br />(3) approximately 10.5 acres just south of the eastern terminus of Crellin Road, be <br />adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Mercer, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Butler <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Mercer, and seconded by Council- <br />member Wood, that the application of the Pleasanton Joint School District to amend <br />the general plan land use designation from Schools to Medium Density Residential with <br />regard to the following three sites: (1) approximately 0.9 acres located near the <br />eastern terminus of lower Abbie Street just north of the Pleasanton Elementary School <br />site; (2) approximately 22.2 acres just north of the eastern terminus of Crellin Road; <br />and (3) approximately 10.5 acres just south of the eastern terminus of Crellin Road, <br />be approved. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Mercer, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Butler <br />NOES: Councilmember Brandes <br />ABSENT: None <br /> <br /> Mayor Butler recessed the meeting at 11:10 P.M. <br /> <br /> Mayor Butler reconvened the meeting at 11:15 P.M. <br /> <br /> 14. 12/6/83 <br /> <br /> <br />
