No one in the audience spoke in opposition to this item. There being no further testimony, Mayor Butler declared the public hearing closed on the application and the negative declaration. Councilmember Mercer stated he favors office type building over industrial develop- ment in this area. Mayor Butler stated that rezoning such as this can be considered at anytime for this type of acreage and does not conflict with the ruling on the PUD application. It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember Mercer, that Resolution No. 83-480, determining on the basis of a review of initial environmental study done for this project, that no significant environmental impact would occur as outlined in the City's guidelines and that a negative declaration is appropriate to fezone approximately twenty-one acres owned by Prudential Insurance Company of America located north and south of West Las Positas Boulevard west of its intersection with Stoneridge Drive from L-I (Light Industrial) to the I-P (Industrial Park) District, be adopted. The roll call vote was as follows: AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Mercer, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Butler NOES: None ABSENT: None It was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Councilmember Mercer, that Ordinance No. 1107, to be read by title only and waiving further reading thereof, approving the application of the Prudential Insurance Company of America to fezone approximately twenty-one acres located north and south of West Las Positas Boulevard west of its intersection with Stoneridge Drive from L-I (Light Industrial) to the I-P (Industrial Park) District, be introduced. No action was required or taken by Council on the item. Need for a Park in the Downtown Area West of Main Street and Possible Park Sites Mr. Walker presented the report of the Director of Recreation and Human Resources (SR 83:478) dated October 20, 1983, regarding this matter. After discussion, it was moved by Councilmember Brandes, and seconded by Council- member Mohr, to refer this matter to the Planning Commission for them to consider jointly with the Park and Recreation Commission, for review and recommendation rela- tive to a specific park site in the downtown area west of Main Street. 9. 10/25/83
