Mr. Terry Crane, 4275 Mairmont Drive, stated he does not have much faith in the <br /> time frame being proposed. He stated he would like to have action taken immediately <br /> and is willing to go in as a partner with the city to pay for installation of the <br /> sound wall. Councilmember Brandes advised that Council has appPoved the installa- <br /> tion of many sound walls over the last several years, and added that action taken <br /> - earlier tonight would allow consideration of a sound wall on Santa Rita Road, but <br /> that it will be necessary to conduct a study to determine the most effective sound <br /> wall improvement to alleviate the noise impact. Mr. Crane asked to be notified when <br /> the draft EIR on this improvement is available. <br /> <br /> PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> Application of Pleasanton Joint School District to fezone an approximately 17 acre <br /> school site (Pleasanton Elementary School) at 4750 First Street from the R-1-65 <br /> (Single-family) Residential District to the "P" (Public and Institutional) District <br /> <br /> Consider Adoption of Negative Declaration <br />~ Mr. Harris presented his report (SR 83:319) dated August 1, 1983, regarding this <br />[,. matter. <br />[D Mayor Butler declared the public hearing open on the application and the negative <br />f'~ declaration. <br /> <br /> Mr. Mike Ananis, representing Pleasanton Joint School Districts stated he con- <br /> curred with the staff report. <br /> / <br /> <br /> Councilmember Wood asked if City use of the cafeteria could be included along <br /> with the gymnasium. Discussion ensued over why staff had not included the cafeteria <br /> in the lease agreement. Mrs. Bengtson advised that Mr. Hagler, of the Pleasanton <br /> Joint School District, has been out of town but that she will discuss this matter <br /> further with him when he returns, if Council so desires. Council instructed Mrs. <br /> ' Bengtson to discuss further negotiations regarding use of the cafeteria by the City. <br /> Mr. Ananis stated that the School District is open to negotiate in any area. <br /> <br /> No one in the audience spoke in opposition to this item. <br /> <br /> Mayor Butler declared the public hearing closed on the application and the <br /> negative declaration. <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Wood, and seconded by Councilmember Mohr, that <br /> Resolution No. 83-342, determining on the basis of a review of initial environmental <br /> study done for this project, that no significant environmental impact would occur as <br /> outlined in the City's guidelines and that a negative declaration is appropriate to <br /> fezone an approximately 17 acre school site (Pleasanton Elementary School) at 4750 <br /> First Street from the R-1-65 (Single-family) Residential District to the "P" (Public <br /> and Institutional) District, be adopted. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Butler <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: Councilmember Mercer <br /> <br /> It was moved by Councilmember Mohr, and seconded by Councilmember Wood, that <br /> Ordinance No. 1098, to be read by title only and waiving further reading thereof, <br /> approving the application of Pleasanton Joint School District to fezone an approxi- <br /> mately 17 acre school site (Pleasanton Elementary School) at 4750 First Street from <br /> the R-1-65 (Single-family) Residential District to the "P" (Public and Institutional) <br /> District, be introduced. <br /> The roll call vote was as follows: <br /> AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Mohr, Wood, and Mayor Butler <br /> NOES: None <br /> ABSENT: Councilmember Mercer <br /> 5. 8/9/83 <br /> <br /> <br />
