Mrs. Kester stated the petition was signed by 100% of the residents on Corte Espada,
indicating that the residents want their street lights on and would like the City to
pay for this cost.

Vice Mayor Mercer explained that the street lights were turned off with the
passage of Proposition 13, when it was not known what the financial situation of the
City would be as a result of that legislation. He stated the City is in excellent
financial condition at this time and that in the foreseeable future it should be in
an even better situation. He stated he favors turning the streets lights on that have
been turned off.

Councilmember Brandes stated that consideration had been given to turning off
street lights even before the passage of Proposition 13 because of the energy crisis,
which he felt has not diminished. He stated there is validity to the concern regard-
ing inequity of the street light policy.

Mr. Warnick advised that he has a meeting scheduled next week with Mr. Yee of
PG&E, to discuss lights that might be needed, and then PG&E plans to proceed with
removal of poles that are not energized.

Councilmember Mohr stated she regularly receives calls regarding street lights,
and feels this is a important matter to the residents of Pleasanton. She stated it
is one of her top priorities to get street lights turned on.

Councilmember Wood stated he is in favor of turning on street lights and feels
that revenue that will be added to the budget by other means will pay for turning on
the lights.

Vice Mayor Mercer advised this matter will be discussed further at the budget
hearing scheduled at the City Council meeting on June 28, 1983.

Ms. Nancy Olheiser, 4432 Denker Drive, stated that Denker Drive and Dotman Road
are in dire need of repair. Mr. Warnick advised he is aware of this situation. He
stated that these streets need a complete rebuilding, which is expensive and has not
been budgeted. Council requested Mr. Warnick to review this matter to see if any-
thing could be done to repair Denker Drive and Dotman Road.

PUBLIC HEARINGS
AP-.83-7, Appeal of Holiday Inns, Inc., of a decision of the Planning Commission deny-
in~ Case PUD-83-.7~ an application for PUD (Planned Unit Development) ~evelopment plan
approval for a seven (7) story hotel and related facilities on the 4.39 acre site
located just northwest of the intersection of Foothill and Du~Ain Canyon Roads

Consider Adoption of Mitigated Negative Declaration
Vice Mayor Mercer declared the public hearing open on this item, and continued the
matter to the meeting of July 12, 1983, 8:00 P.M., in the Pleasanton Council Chambers,
at the request of Holiday Inns, Inc.

MATTERS CONTINUED FOR DECISION
There were no matters continued for decision presented at this meeting.

SPECIAL REPORTS
There were no special reports presented at this meeting.

REPORTS OF BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS
Actions Taken by the Board of Adjustment~ Design ReXjew Board, and Planning Commission
at their meetings of 5-25-83 and 6-8-83
Mr. Harris presented his reports (SR 83:206 and SR 83:207) dated May 26 and June 9,
1983, respectively, regarding this matter for the information of the Council.
