Adoption of Resolution No. 83-239, approving grant application for park restora- <br /> tion and urban reforestation. <br /> <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Mohr, Wood, and Vice Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Mayor Butler <br />ABSTAINED:Vice Mayor Mercer on item 4u. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Wood asked that Nurseryman Dean Schenone be considered in providing <br />trees in the tree restoration project approved in item 4z above. <br /> <br />MATTERS INITIATED BY COUNCILMEMBERS <br /> Vice Mayor Mercer stated he had received a request from the ChildrenTs Theatre <br />Workshop for use of the Police Training Building at such time as it may be vacated <br />by the Valley Volunteer Bureau. After discussion, it was moved by Vice Mayor Mercer, <br />and seconded by Councilmember Brandes, that Resolution No. 83-240, approving use of <br />the Police Training Building, 519 Kottinger, by the Children's Theatre Workshop when <br />it is vacated by the Valley Volunteer Bureau, be adopted. <br />The roll call vote was as follows: <br />AYES: Councilmembers Brandes, Mohr, Wood, and Vice Mayor Mercer <br />NOES: None <br />ABSENT: Mayor Butler <br /> <br /> Vice Mayor Mercer stated that Councilmembers had received a letter from Coast <br />Federal Savings dated June 8, 1983, relative to Resolution No. 73-34, which states <br />that it is Council policy to deny an application for a conditional use permit when <br />a financial institution not already located in the Central Business District requests <br />a permit for an office outside the Central Business District. Coast Federal felt this <br />policy should not apply to their business and asked for a waiver to the resolution. <br />After discussion, Vice Mayor Mercer requested staff to refer this letter to the Plan- <br />ning Commission for their review and recommendation, then considered by Council. <br />Council concurred. <br /> <br /> 3, 6/14/83 <br /> <br /> <br />
